The Summer of Television '10: Life (Season 1)
I should have posted this back in April, because I specifically remember obsessing over this when I was supposed to be studying. Better late than never?
I was reading somewhere someone reccing a vid for this show, and they mentioned that the first season had a story arc that spanned the whole season, and suddenly I wanted to see it. Maybe I have a thing for complete story arcs?
I remember when Life started, but it didn’t really pique my interest at the time. But I guess that suddenly all changed, considering I watched the entire first season in one night(/early morning).
First season thoughts: I do love Charlie Crews, although I’m not sure if anyone ever actually settled on a Zen-to-crazy ratio when writing him. Which I don’t really mind, it’s just that I find fic usually makes him more ‘don’t-mind-me-I’m-just-off-kilter’ crazy than plain Zen. Maybe it’s just because I’m not really sure what ‘Zen’ would be.
Anyway, I like Dani and old-partner-guy (Brent Sexton, who I recognized from a season 8 episode of The X-Files), and the big empty house and Ted! Oh, I love Ted. I also like the interview-type scenes and hope they continue with them in the second season. Also, Jack Reese? I didn’t think that kind of eyebrow/moustache combination was even possible.
I also find this whole show a bit inspiring. Not the I’m-going-to-make-a-positive-change-in-my-life sort of inspiring, just more of I want to write prison fic and Ted fic and maybe try my hand at some Charlie/Ted fic (really!). And it also has me really itching to vid, you know, some song that says ‘I’m not the good guy you think I am’, with a slice-y-type piano thing at the end (look how good I am at music, eh?) where I can flash between BAMF!Charlie and Zen!Charlie, just something that shows the contrast between his two different sides and -
Oh, fuck. This show was cancelled in 2009.
I’ll take the second season a bit slower then, shall I?
