Do I qualify for AARP yet?

If I had my druthers, I'd be spending my birthday sleeping until noon, skivving off work, getting my skate on, hitting the pool for a few hours, getting some Thai food or sushi with friends and family, boozing it up a bit, getting laid, winning MegaMillions, and then flying off to Vegas for Rollercon.

But because it's a Tuesday and druthers don't factor in to the equation at all, I woke up at 6:30 and soon I'll be showering and encasing myself in business casual, rolling into work late as usual, dumping a box of cookies on the table where the color-checked manuscripts go, fighting my way through an MS from a group of Spanish scientists who like to play fast and loose with punctuation, trying not to doze off and failing miserably, eating my usual turkey sandwich for lunch, working until 5, going home and changing, having dinner with the 'rents at Panera Bread at the mall, going to see The Simpsons Movie, coming home, and going to bed early because I'm tired and I'm awfully fond of sleep. I suppose there's a quiet dignity in that.

But quiet dignity is for suckers on Tuesdays. Will anybody be in town this weekend so I can at least squeeze in that bit about the sushi and the boozing?

Anybody? Bueller? Bueller?

{cricket... cricket...}

Or will someone bring me back a t-shirt from Rollercon? Men's medium? Or at the very least have absolutely stoopid amounts of fun and take lots of incriminating pictures so I can live vicariously?

{sigh} So jealous!

But in the meantime, it's time for responsible, newly-minted 28-year-olds to go work.

blogging, work, roller derby
