For a long time Ville couldn’t admit to himself that he had feelings for his friend. However, the majority of the time, he would subconsciously hint to the other with acts of kindness and the power of suggestion. Ville had always admired the other man, the one who was fearless and would do anything. Ville had no doubts that Bam would kiss him, or admit romantic things to Ville; the doubtful thing in Ville’s mind was that Bam wouldn’t mean it or maybe Bam would take it as a joke.
Ville frowned slightly as he remembered a time where he’d been spending time with Bam.
They’d taken a walk through the park. Bam chuckled to himself as he finished telling Ville a crude joke. Ville frowned, understanding the joke but not finding it to be the least bit amusing. Ville and Bam were two completely different people, but they did have a lot in common. Ville smiled an unnoticed smile as he watched Bam try and explain the joke to Ville; Bam had always been more about amusement and rarely did anything in a serious manner.
Bam stopped walking, trying to explain a bit of the joke. He turned his head and became quiet to listen to a pair of teenagers, a boy trying to explain his feelings to a girl. Bam burst into laughter, sniggering at the boy. The boy turned around with a questionable and embarrassed expression. Ville froze in embarrassment, taking Bam by the hand and trying to drag him away. “She doesn’t like you,” Bam laughed, hysterically, as he found his feet and following Ville.
Ville frowned in anger and pushed Bam against a tree, threateningly. “Bam,” he began, angrily, but then realized that he had nothing to say. He stared at Bam for a few minutes. The younger man was shocked and slightly afraid; he’d never seen Ville act like this. “Even if the girl didn’t have feelings for the boy, it’s none of your business.” Ville shook his head as he let the younger man go. “Find your heart and let love birds be; just because you won't tell your feelings to the person you love doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t tell each other…” Ville looked at Bam in a knowing manner.
Bam looked away from Ville, denying his feelings the chance to surface, even for a second. Bam frowned, “are you hinting, Ville?” Ville shook head with a bemused smile while mentally making sure to hide his feelings as well.
Ville shook his head, ashamed at his friend. Ville, however, knew that Bam did have feelings in return; Bam had always admired Ville and taken steps to try and impress the older man. The saddening thing was that Bam had too much pride in himself and his image to the public. It had taken a lot for Ville to admit to himself that he might be gay. He wished that Bam would forget his pride and admit any feelings.
Ville gasped as he heard a loud thump from behind the door; Bam. Ville had retired early for the night, crawling into bed with the excuse of jet lag. Ville had no doubts that in his absence, the younger man had been downstairs getting drunk with his friends. Ville sighed and closed his eyes, pretending to be asleep, hoping that Bam wouldn’t disturb him; he was feeling rather miserable.
Drunk and disoriented, Bam stumbled through into his bedroom, or at least what he thought was his bedroom. Bam hiccupped at the sight of lump in his bed, realizing that it wasn’t. He smiled in a bemused manner and lay down on the ground, curling himself into a ball and falling asleep. Ville took a peek, opening an eye, quietly and looking at the lump on the floor with a soft smile. Ville waited for a few minutes, making sure that Bam was asleep. Ville quietly rose, treading softly across the carpet and nudged Bam with his foot.
“Bam?” he mumbled, quietly, “are you awake?” After receiving no reply, Ville smiled widely and bent down, pulling the larger man up and dragging him across the carpet. Carefully, but with enough force, he pushed the younger man onto the left side of the bed, covering him with the sheets. Ville smiled to himself as he climbed into bed next to Bam, stretching out and then curling himself up in Bam’s arms.
Ville smiled as he looked up at Bam’s face knowing that the other man would be shocked in the morning. Maybe, Ville mused to himself, I’ll be able to tell him… Neither Ville, nor Bam, had any idea about what would happen in the morning. Whether it had been a good or bad decision, Ville had taken the first step; he hoped that it would make the pair happy.
The End
