I've actually read stuff saying it costs more to put people to death than it would to give them a life sentence(60 years). I haven't seen any proof to back that up or anything, but it was something I had heard.
But I think we still have the death penalty because we call for it still. People still want vengence and they don't feel guilty if impartial juries of their peers dispense the judgement for them. I'm not really for or against the death penalty, but your arguements were not very affective to swinging me over. We're all flawed sure, but does that mean we should never ever make important decisions for fear of being wrong? You insinuate that there is something inherently wrong with China, Iran, and Vietnam, but give no evidence. You imply that killing young adults is somehow different from killing any human which isn't really true except the way we feel about it. And I don't think the death penalty is purely for a deterent to crime, I'm sure its partially that, but its affect as a deterent works differently with every single case. And the tax issue, besides what i already wrote on that, I wouldn't want my tax dollars going to more and more inmates, just as much as I hate paying for social security, welfare, or any program where my money supports others, that's what charities are for. So yup, that's my two cents.

Yeah, my argument wasn't as structured as I would have hoped, I was in a hurry.
