Let me start off by saying that my weekend with Tom was great. I loved every minute of it. He got me some cute new shoes, took me out to eat a lot, spoiled me, and did lots and lots of cuddling. It was great and really reinforced my love for him and our relationship. I can't wait until we begin to take the next steps in our relationship. I have pictures that I will gladly put up to show off how cute we are together, blah blah blah. But right now, I have something a bit more imposing to post.
I totalled my car.
While on the drive back from Florida on the I-12 stretch between Slidell and Baton Rouge, I did a ninja move that would embarass even the pink ninja. At about the 44 mile marker right outside of Hammond, someone jerked in front of me, slammed on their brakes (because the person in front of them wasn't going as fast), which caused me to slam on my brakes. I switched lanes and began hydroplaning. I fishtailed the back of my car and once we hit the wet grass, we zoomed back into the underbrush, taking a very gentle stop between a series of new, thin but strong trees. By the time we began trying to get out of the car, people were coming into the woods to ask if we were okay. There was an off duty paramedic who was calling various numbers and checked on T (Tom's friend's wife) to make sure she was okay (she was 6 weeks pregnant and was not experiencing any cramping to suggest a miscarrage).
Everything was processed rather quickly. I didn't take any pictures (should have), though I can describe the damage. The front bumper was completely ripped off, the driver's headlight was knocked out, the underside of the car was unknown though I saw the muffler pop the car off the ground because it was bending and twisting and smashing (urgggg) under the car. The driver's side of the car had a rough dent in the side, while the back of the car was popped in like someone had rearended me. It was totalled.
So, I buy T and myself some greyhound tickets to BMT... with a 6 hour layover in Baton Rouge (thank you stupid lady for not telling me the itenerary, as I had someone who would have picked me up from a Hammond hotel at about 5 a.m. that morning and taken us home). After T and I got to Baton Rouge and had a 4 hour wait, I asked a bus driver that was heading to Houston if he would stop off at the Orange bus stop. He did. I got home at 4.30 a.m. It was hell.
Fortunately, no one is hurt (I will reassure after T goes to the doc).
Now, what I could really use is some info on purchasing a new car, how to deal with the insurance agency, and/or general thoughts of wellness. This is a really hard time, and I could use some info, as I <3 el jay more than google. TRUST ME.
Pics will be later today. <3
