You'll Shoot Your Eye Out!

Finally, last night, we got the tree up. Because of my dad I didn’t think we’d ever do it, but luckily we went shopping yesterday morning and wore himself out. While he took a nap my mom and I were given a chance to deck the halls. If you ask me, it came out pretty well. We had some new decorations this year which I really like. We also got a hot pink mini-tree. For it we bought a dark pink tree skirt, magenta ornaments, and a funny star. We call it the fag tree. I made a little fireplace to sit up there by it since my dad’s almost permanently stationed in front of the real fireplace, and all of the nutcrackers are standing up there by it. It actually really cool looking.

After we got the tree up my mom decided that she needed to go and find an open store so she could buy some food for tonight. She said I could go out with Thom, so he came and got me. There were only a few things open which included McDonalds, Beto’s, and Denny’s, so the choice was obvious. The waiter forgot about us after we were seated, so we got some free drinks and a free desert. We had a lot of fun, so the wait certainly wasn’t too painful. After dinner we went back to his house and watched some cartoons, then around 12 I headed home to watch mass and wrap presents with my mom.

Last night we stayed up until about 2:30, and then I took some Tylenol PM and hit the hay. Unlike most Christmases when I’ve woken up at 7 o’clock with the pre-Christmas jitters, I woke about at 11 feeling pretty groggy and shitty. Then I sat around in the living room waiting for my dad to stop moaning and groaning long enough for me to open my presents.

What I got (from mom):
Pair of blue beaded earrings
Pair of silver dangly earrings that remind me of little hanging spoons
Pair of small silver hoops for my cartilage piercing
A canvas paintbrush holder with paintbrushes included
Set of 6 variable sized ink pens
An oversized hardbound sketchbook for clothing design
Instructional literature on how to knit with supplies included
Additional instructional knitting material with an included project
Miniature lantern for camping in the bee tent, which also turns into a little flood light
Dance Dance Revolution - Extreme 2
Queen + Paul Rodgers concert DVD
Season 1 of Project Runway
A small wood carving of a bearded dragon - I was born in the year of the dragon!
-Everything my mom got me I absolutely adore!-

From Dad:
Portable MP3 player capable of holding 240 songs
Carrying case
Radio/Stereo transmitting device
-A few months back my dad asked what I thought of MP3 players, and I made it pretty clear that it was a trend I wanted no part of. He got me one anyway. I’m considering taking it back and getting a scanner which is something I actually need right now, but I don’t really want to make him feel bad. After all he's done to me I shouldn't care, but he did actually spend money on me, after all. The more I think about it, the more I think I’ll use it, but I don’t know. At least if I keep it, I can ask for the scanner for my birthday, since I’m sure I won’t be able to come up with anything else.-

From other people:
Grandpa sent the traditional $50 as he does for all of us 30 grandchildren. He also sent $70 for both of the parents, but my mom may have spend the whole check on presents for me. I wouldn't be surprised.

Aunt Jolene sent a bright pink tote bag that she made out of drink pouches and filled it with the stuff to make fudge. I got a kick out of it for sure. She’s always sending crazy stuff.

Stephany (the Mormon half-sister) sent a fiber optic nightlight which I never intend on using as I have too much pride, and a chord chart for a tenor banjo. The chord chart would have been pretty cool if I actually played a tenor (4-string) banjo, and if I didn’t already have a chart for my *bluegrass* banjo. She’s so weird, but it is the thought that counts, right?

I know that Carly and Ana got me something, but they haven’t given them to me yet, so I’ll have to update this a little later. I sort of wish they wouldn’t have, because at the moment I have nothing to give to them…but friendship. Haha. I decided this year that I’d make all of my presents for people, but in the process they all got screwed over, which lead to an extreme amount of stress and another mini-break down. Unfortunately, the problem isn’t one that can be solved without buying all of the materials again, and even if I did so, the serger is hardly capable of handling what I’m trying to do. If I break it I can’t afford to get it fixed. That was my main Christmas dilemma this year. Looks like a trip to the mall for me to look for some after Christmas specials, eh?

I haven’t really been feeling wonderful today, so I’ve been sleeping a lot, and now I’m waiting for dinner. After we eat I’m going to take a plate of food over to Thom’s and hang out for a while. Should be awesome, you know? I’m wishing he and I could camp out in the bee tent tonight and try my new lantern out, but that’s probably not going to happen. Haha. Anyway, Merry Fucking Christmas, or whatever the hell you celebrate.
