Still 4.5 Days of School Left

I AM GOING TO ISRAEL! I AM GOING TO ISRAEL THIS WINTER! This is what my dad is thinking about, except for that we wouldn't have any time to see relatives in Tel Aviv. Dad is hoping that this will get me back into the Jewish groove, but I think that it will probably just push me farther from it. There's such fierce hatred between the three major religions there that Judaism (and the fact that I'm American) will just make me... repulsive, I guess, to a lot of the people there.

I'd really like to stay on an Ulpan for a summer, or maybe even a year, in high school to learn the language. I would die for the chance to live on a Kibbutz for a summer, but that sort of thing really isn't safe right now because so many of them are in or near the occupied territories. I suggested Jordan or Lebanon instead of the optional Eilat stay, but Dad says that it's not safe even to travel from Israel to an Arab country right now because it's literally dangerous to show your passport.

They have all of these great day tours to places like Masada, Nazareth, Bethelehem, Petra, and the Dead Sea. This sounds so amazing, I can't wait! I'll have to brush up on my Hebrew (Ivrit). I can say... "I live in America." Ani garah b'America. Hehe. I'm all giddy now because I'm so excited.
