I will officially be starting work in Daegu, South Korea at Andover School on September 27.
I'm leaving New York on Sunday at 1:55 pm. I should be all nervous and excited and whatnot but honestly, I'm pretty blasé about the whole deal. I guess I'm a little upset that my mom is trying to set up arrangements on who's going to pick me up at the airport and where I'm going to stay. I don't know why she's doing all this considering the fact that the school that I'm working for is arranging everything and, hello, I already have a furnished apartment waiting for me. I hate it when mothers try too hard.
Packing is going to be a bitch. I'm known to pack my entire wardrobe into 8 suitcases and not end up wearing 80% of the stuff I packed.
I went to the city on Friday to get my visa. I love the city and thrive in that sort of environment. Having been born and raised there, it's natural instinct for me to gravitate towards it. On Friday, all that changed. I went to midtown. during the afternoon. in a car. couldn't find parking. spent too much on a garage. waited too long for my visa. spent too much money getting it. got caught up in rush hour traffic. felt like a fucking tourist who was ripped off who was AWARE of being ripped off. declared that if I never see nyc again, I will be completely happy. Too bad this will never be the case.
Have you guys heard of the Rosetta Stone language DVDs? Supposedly they're the best and most efficient way of learning any language. I illegally downloaded purchased the korean langauge DVD and so far, it's hard as fock since the only translation available are pictures! There's no english words used at all. It's completely 100% 한글.
I'll miss these 2 fookers:

Speaking of my terrible day at the city, there was one thing that prevented it from becoming the worst day of my life. I went to American Apparel (teapea, do they have that store in Hawaii?) and bought the most amazing fooking dress EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRR. You can wear it 15+ different ways from a dress to a shirt to a skirt. It's amazing. I literally spent three hours trying on all the variations; this dress is completely versatile and so much so that people will think you're wearing a different dress. I got it in magenta but AA doesn't have the color listed on their site so this will do:
They have a video on the site that shows the different ways you can wear it. I also want the same dress in black but in a pencil version:
