Donkey Riding

I'm pretty sure Birdie learned about donkeys after Disney+ dropped a tranche of new-to-Americans Bluey episodes on January 12. One of those episodes, Dragon, featured a donkey. She didn't even particularly like the episode (it was a bit scary), but apparently the donkey stuck in her memory, because shortly after that we mutually invented a game called Donkey Riding.

As previously noted, Birdie really enjoys jumping on our king-sized bed. Donkey Riding was invented a game while she was jumping on the bed. I lying on the bed and bench pressing her up and down, which she loves. Then when I got tired, I rolled over on my stomach. Birdie was undeterred and climbed on my back, so I decided to give her a horsie ride, which she REALLY loved. Except that she apparently prefers to call it a donkey ride.

No problem here. I'm happy to make "hee-haw" noises while trying to gently buck her off on to the bed. She likes to say "get up little donkey," probably mirroring "you can do it little candle". She thinks its hilarious when I make donkey noises, and even funnier when she falls off my back on to the mattress. The game turns up whenever we jump on the bed, or occasionally on the floor in our living room on top of our foam padding.

As it happens, the Great Big Sea live album Road Rage, which made an appearance in my songbook with When I'm Up, also features a song called Donkey Riding that I really enjoyed once upon a time. I'll have to play it for Birdie some time.
