Annual Birthday Greed List 2020

Oct 10, 2020 20:12

A really good present is something that you give someone that they never knew they wanted but love once they get it.
Really good presents are hard, so my family traditionally asks each other what they want for their birthday / Hanukkah. As I get older and more capable of buying whatever I want, it gets harder for me to actually put together such a list, which is why you'll note that this is in some ways a rehash of what I didn't get in prior years.

Reading Materials
- I would very much like a copy of The Ode Less Travelled. I got it from the library, but it's not a book I'll ever be able to read quickly. EDIT: Thanks M!
- Lois McMaster Bujold's first six Penric novellas have been collected in two omnibus editions. EDIT: Thanks Mom & Dad!
- I also don't have books 3 and 4 of the Sharing Knife.

Art
- A print of Orpheus by Odilon Redon suitable for framing, or maybe even framed already! This is one of my personal all time favorite paintings, which is probably why it's been on this list for nearly a decade.

Clothes
- An Oakland Athletics Jersey. Any color. Possibly even featuring the #24 of the great Rickey Henderson.

Music
These mostly fill gaps in my personal collection that I'll otherwise fill myself one day.
- William Bell: This Is Where I Live
- Neko Case: The Tigers Have Spoken EDIT: Thanks M!, case/lang/viers
- Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds: Murder Ballads, The Boatman's Call

Games
- The base game of Seven Wonders and someone to play it with. EDIT: Thanks tigerlily_blue

Gear
- I can't imagine I'd actually buy myself a weed whacker, but I could use one.

And that's about it, really.
