1000 Miles!

I commuted to work today in the cold and the premature darkness caused by the country having left daylight savings time for 'normal' time. This trip put my mileage for the year at 1,002.3 miles, thereby meeting my stretch goal of 1000 miles. I actually made it faster than my target of this Saturday, but that's mostly because construction closed off a parking lot my company owns that I cut through. Why do I cut through it? Because not cutting through it increased my daily commute from 17.9 miles to 19.7 miles. Ouch. 1.8 miles a trip adds up pretty quickly.

For the moment it's still nice enough to bike out. I don't expect that to last too much longer, but I might as well make some small goals:
- My total commuting mileage is 951.6 miles. Riding three more times will bring the commuting total over 1,000.
- This is week 27 of my bike commuting. I'm currently one ride short of average two commutes/week; riding twice more this week will bring that total back up to two. If I want to do three more (see the first goal) then I need to do two more next week to hold that average.

Those are modest enough little goals for now. My body aches (more than usual) bicycling in the cold of the morning, so I can't see this happening past the next few weeks. On the other hand, if the roads stay dry anything is possible.
