19 Indiana

Indiana Jones is awesome. Indiana, not so much. As Ohio's western neighbor, it's pretty much always been a drive-through state for me on the way to other, more interesting, places. I can't think of any "obvious attraction," but I grew up in Illinois about a mile from the state line, so many of my Precious Memories of Youth(tm) come from Indiana. The YMCA pool where I learned to swim, the place where I learned to ride a horse, the vast majority of my Boy Scout camp outs, and the vet's office where I had my first real summer job were all in Indiana. In my memory, the Lake County Fair rivals the present-day Geauga Co. Fair in scale and scope.

As a state, I have to compare it to how Cleveland is sometimes perceived as a city. Not really popular unless you actually live there, and find out how...nice it can be. Notably lacking in extremes (the only exception that pops into mind is a certain famous auto race), but packed from top to bottom with enough small interesting things that one should never really be bored from lack of options.

Yeah, but you don't make special trips for small things. There are too many places with big things to do instead.

I've been there to visit a friend who went to IU in Bloomington, which was hella fun. There's also a half marathon around the Indy 500 track that looks kind of neat :-)
