Today EJW and I made it to the
M.C. Escher exhibition at the
Akron Art Museum. Somehow Akron snagged one of only two loans of these works to America. All of the famous pieces are there, as well as many other ones I had not seen before. My favorite one is this piece titled "Eye" - look carefully at the pupil:
Another current exhibition are also showing a bunch of photos by the noted jazz photographer
Herman Leonard. I recognized a staggering number of his shots; it turns out that if there's a famous picture of a jazz musician in the 1950s,
Leonard probably took it, like this famous shot of Ella signing with Duke and Goodman in the crowd.
The Leonard exhibit runs through July 10. Coming in October is a major
Impressionist exhibition, which I'm all for.
Before EJW and I stepped into the museum we had a light dinner across the street at
Crave. I'm pleased to report that it is still one of the finest places to eat in NE Ohio, and is well worth the drive even if you don't go to the Art Museum.
