So for the last many years there's been a trend of Broadway musicals that are really just a collection of songs by one artist tied together with a thin plot. Dubbed
jukebox musicals, when well done, they can be quite enjoyable - see
Movin' Out or
Mamma Mia. Many others disappear without a trace (a
musical featuring the songs of Madness? Really?)
Regardless of how you feel about this trend, no good can come of
Rock of Ages, which is a new musical featuring the works of Journey, Night Ranger, Styx and and Whitesnake, among many others. I will now drive a pen through my ear drum.
Thanks (I guess) to DC for the link.
