I ask for help or recommendations or suggestions pretty frequently, but I don't often report on the outcomes of those requests. It is time to fix that.
My request for a suitable men's clothing store led me to Men's Wearhouse. I dropped a lot of money to cover all the formal wear I should need for the next 20 years or so. And I spent enough that they sent me a gift certificate for $50, so I can augment my collection even further. Better yet, if I can find one in Portland near our hotel I can get my suit pressed before our wedding free of charge. Thanks to
darlox and
gieves for the suggestion.
My request for printer recommendations was answered by
mokatz and
drdingbat. I researched the Brothers models that they both recommended and came up with the Brother 7020 Laser Printer. It is designed for office use and was thus a bit pricey, but I cashed in all of my Best Buy gift cards and got it for a reasonable $130, which included the service plan. That was well under my budgeted amount, and thus far it works great. We just used it to print out wedding invitations for those few relatives who haven't managed to hook themselves up to the internet yet.
Farther back in time
I asked for advice on how to rip uncooperative CDs into iTunes. I didn't get any useful comments, but when
pianodan swung through town recently he pointed me to an iTunes setting. Once the auto-correction was turned on I knocked the pile of unrippable CDs from almost 30 to 3 very badly scratched discs. Unfortunately all 3 are hard to find, but it's still a lot better than it was.
Way back in January I asked for
frame shop suggestions. exilejedi referred us to Frames Unlimited in the Westlake Promenade. He even handed over a substantial coupon. We haven't quite managed to make it there yet (funding this wedding is a little more important at the moment) but we're definitely going to try it out once we have some spare cash.
Thanks for all your help.
