This is indeed what the bacon question was for. I'm thinking about trying that zucchini suggestion sometime when I can be bothered. But for this particular recipe, the capers worked really well. I've made it twice (for lack of other ingredients when my sister and her husband and daughter came over for dinner! I'm housesitting atm) and tried the capers whole and then diced up, and diced up is much better. A tiny bit of salty sourness rather than a massive mouthful of it lol.
You do need to train me, but perhaps I should actually get a camera first!! I do have a webcam I can use, but I just forget. I'll have to rectify that!
Coconut bacon? That sounds interesting. I wonder what the texture would be like...do you use shredded coconut or that sliced stuff? Interesting!! So much stuff that would never have occured to me to use as a substitute lol
jackfruit? Thats interesting. I have tried it before and I thought it was quite a sweet fruit. Maybe the marinade covers that or something. It would be interesting at least. And yeah, I was thinking those big flakes of coconut would be cool to use too.
I must admit though, that bacon is the only meat that I have really felt the need to substitute. Everything else I'm doing fine at just doing without. (And I'm nearly at my 4 month veg-anniversary so I'm very proud of myself!!)
