Summary: The kanima seeks a master. But it’d have to be really stupid to expect its master to be any less of a monster than itself.

I could weep for Jackson here. Imagine never being able to escape the monster inside you and being a slave forever. You can't get a more raw deal than that.

He was the best of them, he was the worst of them too.

And the end is fascinating. What is it that the kanima sees in Scott that makes this true? Is it just that power corrupts and eventually it will corrupt Scott? Does he see the path that corruption will take? I feel horrified and fascinated and worried for Scott, although less so for Jackson because he is better off now.

Hi there! So sorry for my late response - stupid RL - and thanks so much for reading and reviewing :) Yeah I hope they explore some of Jackson's mindspace when he was a kanima in S3, I'm so intrigued by how it must have felt.

And Scott - OMG I almost did write an alternate ending where Scott turns out to be just as bad. I had the same idea - maybe it is the rush of power - to have a kanima at your beck and call - that could corrupt the nicest guys. But I felt too bad for Jackson to do that to him heh.

It would be really interesting to see how that change would happen. Scott is such a thoroughly good, cuddly puppy that it would take something major like harm to Allison or Melissa or maaaybe Stiles to even start him down something. ...I think. It would be interesting if it was just the power though. If it could be made believable.

I think the hint you gave here though was just the right amount to intrigue.

I loooooooove Jackson, so I believe you're wrong about him not being a beloved character. Also, Scott/Jackson always makes me cry out in joy; they're just so fire and ice, I love it.

And this was gorgeous, and so heartbreaking. The sadness I had to get through to finally get to Scott/Jackson was completely worth it. :)
