Random bits of oddness

This morning just before 3:00 AM, I was abruptly woken by a super intense stinging pain on the back of my arm, a few inches up from my elbow. The pain continued to escalate so I jerked my arm away from where it was near the pillows and sat up to turn on the lamp and look. Didn't see anything there on the bed, but by this time the stinging sensation was replaced by a feel of burning beneath the surface of my skin. I flipped the covers back, frankly at this point looking for a scorpion. Because I couldn't imagine any spider bite could hurt that bad. I didn't see anything so I got up and went to the bathroom to look at my arm in the mirror. There wasn't a mark to be seen, but the burning continued, especially if I extended my arm. It felt just like getting flu shot. I went back to the bedroom and fully stripped the bed, convinced there was either a scorpion or a spider the side of a small dog somewhere in there. STILL couldn't find a thing. Eventually I went back to bed, forced myself to ignore my imagination that insisted stuff was crawling all over me, and went back to sleep.

More than two hours later, I'm up for work. My arm still has not a mark on it, no redness, nothing swollen or puffy. But damn if it doesn't still burn like crazy in that spot.
