The Party's Over, but I'm Still Dancing...

I've been pondering something the past few days (though the seeds have been germinating for several months). So how do I put this without sounding whiny...?

Is this the end? )

Don't stop writing and doing fanarts!!! D:

Now I'm feeling a bit guilty... you see, I was holding off on reading WoF until it was completed. Which is rather silly, because you're good about completing your stories. It's just that several fics that I had been following religiously were dropped (for good reasons - those writers went on to doing original, non-fanfic writing projects) and as much as I'm rooting for these people to get their novels published IRL, it is disappointing when a really good story is abandoned without closure. However, I have been enjoying your beautiful artworks! I'm sure I'll appreciate them even more when I do read WoF. I should review more often, instead of simply lurking and silently enjoying your fanarts.

KakaSaku is still my OTP, although it has been tempered a bit (and I'm trying really hard not to get seduced by the No.6 fandom). It's not so much a disinterest, but RL is sucking up all my free time these days. It doesn't help that LJ is being so tempermental. Keep posting, whether it be on LJ or DA or elsewhere... as long as you're having fun. Your fans appreciate your creations.

A few people have told me they're waiting to read until it's finished. But that's probably going to be close to 6 months from now, and who knows if they'll even still be around? Lol.

Could you be talking about Silvershine? I wondered what happened to her. She was running 2 good fics at the same time and they were pretty much the only thing I was reading and then...gone. I'm working on a novel too, but I can't abandon what I'm doing now in favor of it. What kind of writer and storyteller is that? I have to purge this idea before I can devote myself to another.

Yes - I miss SilverShine! And SakuraHaru. I believe they are both quite busy with their original writings at the moment. It's been over a year since Nottoca updated her fic. Several other writers have moved on to other fandoms or maybe just gotten busy with RL happenings.

As far as why they dropped their projects - well, it's their project, their prerogative. As a reader, I might be a wee bit (okay - a lot) disappointed but I understand that people write fanfics as a hobby and that they write for their own pleasure. I'm just the lucky reader/bystander to witness something wonderful unfold and to that end, my opinions are moot.

However, I'm glad that you're willing to stick with WoF until it's finished. It's a huge incentive for me to check it out ASAP! :)

Of course it's a writer's prerogative to drop their story if they want, I just think it's unfair to the people who have supported them from the beginning. After all it's reader support and encouragement that makes us realize we might have a shot at being a professional author. Me personally, I just need the closure. I don't think I'll ever be one of those authors that has 2-3 series going simultaneously.
