Just got book five in A Song of Ice and Fire series (aka Game of Thrones)!  It's almost 1k pages, so I doubt I'll be around much the next couple weeks.

I just finished the first one and will be starting on the second one this weekend. It has been pretty intense so far!

It gets even more intense, especially by book 3! Now that you've read the first book are you going to watch the series?

I actually saw the series first before I knew of the books. We were watching HBO and a commercial came on for this "Game of Thrones" and there was Sean Bean looking awesome with a sword and I was like "we are totally watching that." Then as it got going, we learned about the books, etc.

I just finished the first one and it gave more insight into a few things, but I was impressed at how much the plot followed the books. I have the second book and am on holidays again on wed. so I'm sure I'll put my feet up on the deck and read. :D

We are heading to vegas first week of august so hopefully I'll be able to take the third book on the plane and read.

That's right --don't know why I forgot that. The series has done an excellent job so far in being faithful and thorough, especially when they have hundreds of pages of material to sift through to make a 10 hour season.

Enjoy Vegas! Is it your first time? I'm heading to Vancouver for a few days next month (scouting a possible move), so it seems we're trading off. ;) I've considered Toronto too - isn't that where you are? Anything awesome to sell me on?

No, I went to Vegas last year with the girls and wow, it was crazy fun. I'm taking leafyguy and we are going with another couple so it'll be tamer this time. We are going to go to the Gun Store and shoot some guns. lol. Don't know why I'm so excited about that. I'm not really a gun person ( ... )

I've been wanting to move abroad for several years, for the experience as well as sociopolitical reasons. I eventually plan to end up in Sweden, but that's a difficult and expensive move without a job beforehand, so I'm looking at quicker options that won't take me 5 years to save up for. I like Canada's social system a lot, and it's beautiful and I've heard the people are nice ;) so I think I could be happy living there for a few years.
