As usual, it was a slow Monday at Zeller's Apothecary. Severus had already restocked the shelves, swept the floors, and written his letters to potential mentors for his apprenticeship. This was just a job to pass the time.

He Summoned a ladder over, climbing to the top so he'd look like he was working instead of reading the book he'd stashed up there for just such slow days.

"Excuse me? Er--I heard you had an order of Gillyweed just in, and ... Severus?"

"Lily,"Severus replied, fingers tight on the top shelf, the only thing keeping him from falling.

"I'll just go then, shall I?"

"No! You said Gillyweed?" Severus hurried over to the tank it was kept in, bagging some for her. "On the house."

"I couldn't-"

"Please. Consider it ... consider it an apology." For everything. For school. For the things he'd done and said and would likely do again.

"Severus..."

"Oi, Snape! Are you skiving off reading again? Get to work!" Mr. Zeller's voice called from the back of the shop.

"Just go, Lily. It was ..."

"Yeah," Lily whispered back, turning to leave.

Severus just watched her go.
