Thanks, Robin. I'm thinking I probably need to stop doing it, since I can't do it without upsetting people. Or maybe some people are upset by everything they read, but either way, I don't want to deal with it anymore.
Who gave you grief? Cuz I'd like to slap them. Your response was very polite and much better than what I would've said. That person brought it onto themselves by sending you a stupid complaint.
I deleted my original comment. The original one said that perhaps I might be doing the author a favor instead of hurting them, because any time anyone searched for my book, this other book would show up in the search results. I didn't mean that to be "I'm better and more popular than you"-- I've found that unless someone is specifically searching for my books, they're buried. I found that when there were 3 YA books coming out called Sleepless within a year of each other, it helped, because my book saw a small burst of sales with the release of the other books!
I also suggested that they could change the title of their book-- since I have no control over what my publisher does, and self-publishers have all the control.
And it wasn't meant to rub my publishing status in anyone's face-- just to show that as the largest publisher in the world, they might know a thing or two about title confusion.
Thanks, Tessa! I think though, that my blog's days are numbered. I never really loved keeping a blog, anyway... it's been so stressful to find things to say on it, since I hate talking about myself.
The way people are these days, you could say the sky is blue and someone would start an argument, insisting that it is azure, indigo, cobalt, turguoise, cerulean or something else entirely that isn't blue. Some people just like to get cranked up over nothing. Sorry this happened to you.
Hi, Kari! I have noticed this more and more! I used to think that people on the other end of the internet were, for the most part, sane and rationale, but I recently learned that there is a growing group of people who exist just to disagree for disagreement's sake, to torment and make other people miserable, simply because they can, and because they enjoy getting that reaction out of people. Sad that there are people who derive joy out of something like that... their heads obviously aren't screwed on correctly!
