Some fabulous things

- Last Thursday, I ventured into London to see Frisky and Mannish at the E4 Udderbelly on the South Bank.  They were most excellent, and even though it took us until 2am to get home afterwards (having missed the last pre-midnight train back to Oxford), it was definitely worth the trip.  Philippa and I were both listening to iPods, and for some reason(NB we were completely sober) decided to do a spot of miming along to the tracks, much to the bemusement of everyone else on the train.  Kylie's "Locomotion" was a particular success for me.
Here, for the uneducated, are the marvellous F&M: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alOcEM7GgWg

- Freesat.  We FINALLY have television at home, having spent the last six months subsisting on BBC 1-3 and Dave.  It is quite the revelation.  Although we no longer have Dave, we do have ITV and Channel 4, and all their associated channels. Plus we have BBC and ITV HD, which is just amazing.  If you don't have it, the best description I can come up with is that it's like being in the opticians, when you have some lenses in and you think you can see pretty well, but then they put in another and everything becomes crystal clear - that's HD.
We are also still getting SKY, which means all that PLUS the sky channels (including Sport - although in the meantime we're watching cricket and rugby c/o S4c's Welsh language coverage, with me as in house translator). V. exciting.

- Work's going quite well - my Annual Appeal is now well over the £220,000 mark for pledges so I am very pleased indeed.  A lot of that money is also already coming in (in the form of regular direct debit gifts) so bodes well for actual total raised too.  It's the College's most successful Annual Appeal to date, so although a lot of it is mechanical, I am definitely adding it to my CV as an achievement!  After all, handstuffing all those sodding letters has to have some reward.

Not so fabulous: Boy's car has almost literally exploded - the turbo has blown.  Considering the car's only done 34,000 miles, this is somewhat worrying.  We will be fixing it, and then selling.
He's also in bed ill today, having worked too hard for too long - he has not learned by my example (from January).  Hopefully, he will be doing as he's been told and staying in bed this morning.
