I'm not getting broody, but...

This morning on the way to work, I saw the most adorable baby on the bus.

He was with his dad, sat in a backward-facing pram (which, of course, we were recently told is the best for child interaction with parent).  Now this was the sort of pram where baby could lie flat, but he was sat upright - alert and curious to all the new people getting on the bus.  Not a sound came out of this child, not even a contented gurgle - he just watched - big, crystal clear blue eyes wide with the effort of taking in all the new people and new things that arrived on the bus.

And then, with an unerring instinct, after the last person got on the bus and had been surveyed (i.e. from there we started disembarking only at stops), without any fussing or even yawning, he simply closed his eyes and fell asleep, still upright!

Of course it helped that he was very cute, little blue romper suit and red gloves adding to the effect (and channeling Paddington Bear).

It would be nice to be a small child again, and able to take in as much of the world as you liked before shutting it out and switching off.
