Kurdy was getting better at finding Smith's little hiding places within the Mountain. All he had to do was check every stairwell in the complex.
"There you are." Kurdy plopped himself down on the step next to the smaller man, crowding him. Smith remained absolutely still, as if carved out of stone.. "Thinking deep thoughts?"
"No."
"Why the long face, then?"
"I'm listening."
"Listening?" Kurdy pointedly glanced around. "Listening to what? We're alone."
"We're never alone. Not now. Not any more."
"You trying to creep me out?"
"No."
"So? What'd you mean?"
Mister Smith blinked up at him. "He's back."
