One of the
interesting things that happened to me while at Global Engagement was that I
requested a Buddhist monk/chaplain come see me over there. Surprisingly, I was the only one to request
it. Anyhow, we had the whole tent all to
ourselves and we chatted about Buddhism and all. One Phrase I remembered from the Buddhist
monk that came to talk to me while at the Academy was this: "Learn to let
everything and everyone go." In
addition, you could probably say that I’ll be the biggest hypocrite you’ll ever
see now that the military is in the pre-emptive war business. I’m not saying it’s bad policy, but as the
result of it. It’s hard to explain being
a Buddhist in the military. I asked that guy “how can you be one in the Air
Force?” Honestly he said, “I don’t know”. Hell, any religion for that
matter. If you were a true follower,
really killing is not an option. Not under
any situation is it condone, even for self-defense. However, I don’t care. I’ll do what I have to do. I’ll worry about
it when I end up wherever I end up. But yeah, it was cool talking to that guy,
Capt. Lloyd.
