I recently bought a new phone on Ebay. Made sure the guy had good comments, and a lot of them too (He had over 400). Spent the most amount of money I have ever spent in one go (£270 ($531 USD, $615.26 CAD)). The guy sent the phone via Royal Mail. It was suppose to arrive today before 1PM.
I wake up early (Before 8am) to make sure I am awake and that I would in no possible way miss the buzzer to my door. I waited.... and waited.... Normally my deliveries arrive in the morning, so by 12pm I email the guy who sold it to me to enquire what's happening. Got a response and he tells me that Royal Mail claim they delivered it. I check the website, use the code, and low and behold Royal Mail indeed do claim that they Delivered it. They did no such thing. They didn't even leave a frigging calling card.
I live in a block of flats, and the postman that deliver in my area are not only blind (On more than one occasion have they tried to deliver a package that's clearly marked to my flat number and address to a different flat in the same building), but they never even bother to go to the actual flat for the signature. They make you go to the front door to the block to sign for it (Which as it turns out is the wrong thing to do, as apparently only a resident of the property it's addressed to can sign it. If they let people sign it at the front door, anyone from any of the flats could sign and claim it as theirs), because they're Lazy.
So obviously my biggest fear is that someone else signed and accepted it, or even worse, that someone from the sorting office stole it (I've heard quite a few stories about people getting credit card numbers and such from the sorting office). I wouldn't be surprised, they hire a hell of a lot of temporary workers, and they don't even need any qualifications. Just the ability to read and move around a bit.
So I call Royal Mail and their response is something pretty odd. They tell me that it was dispatched, but no-one was able to accept it (Sounds a lot like that means I wasn't home. However when I said I was in all day, and no-one called, he told me that's not what he meant, and basically repeated it but said to "sign" for it instead of accept it. What... the... hell? How can anyone sign for it if no-one delivers it? It just dosn't make sense). In the event that no-one is able to sign for it, it will be sent back to the sorting office and marked as delivered in preperation (Probably the event of someone coming and picking it up... except no-one left a calling card, thus if this is the case, the person who delivered it is completely useless. It's more likely however, that someone actually accepted it). In the event no-one comes to pick it up, it gets sent back to the sorting office.
So I now have to call the sorting office at 8am tomorrow morning to ask them what the hell they did with my package. I can only hope that it actually did get sent back and not accepted by some other random person who likes expensive things (If it's the grey packaging, you can see through it to what's inside). I'm worrying like a mofo.
Oh man it'd better be there..... ;_;
