Hi Friends!
I had a great weekend! Friday was the monthly meeting of the Uppity Ladies. We went to Montavinos, this fabulous little wine bar in Wooster. I'd never been there before and it was incredible. It reminded me a lot of some of the places I went to in Italy. I had a glass of a very sweet and yummy Riesling and then the ladies ordered a bottle of champagne to celebrate Jane's big move to Chatanooga and my acceptance into Temple. We also ordered a cheese tray which also had olives, fruit, and crackers--yum! Then we realized that most of us still hadn't eaten dinner, so we called Papa John's and had a pizza delivered. The owners of Montavinos were very sweet and accommodating. We spent a lovely few hours catching up, discussing the book (Bel Canto), and trying to choose a book for next month. The whole evening was wonderful and I feel so lucky to have met this incredible group of women.
Saturday was very relaxing. I spent most of the day watching NCIS and applying for jobs. Then, just as I was in the middle of a Lifetime Original movie starring James Vanderbeek, I got a call from Wolf, so I met up with him and Parry at Applebee's, which was pretty great. Then we came back to my house and listened to Celine and gossiped. Those guys make me laugh.
Yesterday was another fantastic Uppity day! Marilyn picked me up and we drove to West Holmes to see Sandy's art show. All of her students had their work on display and I was so impressed at how creative and talented those kids are. I definitely got my slice of culture for the day. I was also happy to have lots of time to talk to Marilyn, who is one of the most engaging people I know. After the art show, I picked up my future Philly roomie, Kristen, and we went out to Cold Stone and had a lot of fun getting reacquainted and making plans for our big move. I'm so excited to live with her! And last night, of course, was the season finale of Desperate Housewives which ended with a cliffhanger. Grr.
I'm pretty excited right now because I've finally gotten a couple of responses to job applications and I'm really, really hopeful that someone will want to hire me soon. I need someone to hire me soon.
