SciFi Friday ... Monday for me
So I just finished watching SG1 9x01. Please bear in mind that I haven't seen any of Season 8 yet, nor the last episodes of Season 7, since enigel told me I should really watch them all in order and I'm just rewatchig Season 4 at the moment. But I just had to keep up with this from now on, as I'll be catching up with old seasons in the meantime.
First off, Teal'c with hair?!?!
I thought it funny that Daniel and Teal'c both went back to speaking as they did in the older season again, whereas in Season 7 I thought they had somehow settled in their parts a bit and seemed natural. Daniel was speaking extremely fast during his explanation about Avalon, but I do have to admit he has a tendency of doing that whenever he knows people might interrupt him and he wants to prove a point before that. That, or the script writers just needed to fit it all into one episode and the director gave him specific instruction. Anyway, it was funny. Teal'c's intonations, especially in the first part of the episode, were funny too.
I have read quite a few people don't like Vala, but I do. I know she already appeared in Season 8, so maybe I would feel differently if I had seen that, but right now, cliche or not, I do like her. What do people have against cliches anyway, I mean, not everyone can be original, can they? Maybe there'll be more to her as we continue. She and Daniel are totally cute together.
Much love for Cameron Mitchell as well! I already love his chara in Farscape, which I only saw a few episodes of, but here he's totally adorable. His wish to reform as much of SG1 as possible ("at the moment, it's just SGme", haha!) and the enthusiasm he shows in doing so (to Teal'c "now isn't this fun!", later Teal'c to Cameron "still having fun Colonel?") is admirable :) He so totally has the hots for Sam though, it's so obvious!
I can't begin to say how much I miss Jack and how shocked I was about his looks when he met with the other General. He looked sick even I thought :( Oh, I hate this, I don't see good things happening to him. I do hope to see more of him though, but doubt it'll be more than every few episodes.
Sam'll be back, obviously, since her name is in opening credits and we see her go through the gate with the others too. It'll be good too, without her and Jack, it just wouldn't be the same. I feel Mitchell might be a good substitute for Jack, if we really can't have the original anymore.
But daaaamn, that ending! What's with the cliffhangers these days, first The 4400, then HP and now SG1!
*draws in breath* I feel I have typed this in one long go, like you would ramble out an ongoing sentence :P
Going to update this post with comments about the others as I see them, even if, no, I didn't see the whole of seasons 1 of either shows. Catching up on Atlantis, which I have completely thanks to enigel ^_^
Not that much to say about this episode, will watch it again after finishing season 1 later on. My favourite character is still Carson, I just love his accent :D McKay and Sheppard come in close seconds. Like Zelenka as well. As for the other chara, I can't say I really care for them very much, let alone like them. I still have strong feelings of dislike for Teyla (although now I can spell her name right!) and although I sort of liked Ford before, I really really hated what he was doing in this episode. And yes, I know he can't help himself blabla, but still... Skinner was cool too! And of course, there was an Asgard. I love the Asgard. Very much.
Anyway, the cloaking was a good tactic, but it makes one think, as soon as the Wraith know that they're still out there, as soon as they bump into them again, they should be heading back for Atlantis, no? At least I'd have another look. On the other hand, if they can be detected on time and Atlantis can be cloaked again, they couldn't know where to fire at it.
I don't know, is Atlantis in a fixed spot in that sea, or is it just kind of floating around?
Oh, and I was going to do this in a separate post, but as I'm being distracted, I'm not sure I'll be able to make it today. So I just wanted to already take advantage of this one and wish elvinborn a very very happy birthday!
