I just feel like I need to try something new and the prompt was a perfect for it. ^^ If I can't pull it off, yeah, there's always my usual style. Hehehehe.

Hahah, yeah, he was fluent in French, and according to my uncle, when he took Grandpa to France decades later, he started to speak in French as if no time has passed. :3 He was fluent in French, Taiwanese, Japanese (actually, all my grandparents knew Japanese but you know Taiwan was occupied by Japan around WWII), and Mandarin. I still have a long ways to go if I want to be good in languages like he. Hahaha.

I agree that our generation's life isn't very exciting. Even my parents had relatively more interesting (aka harsh) life than I. Hahaha. I think we've gone so soft, and I highly doubt I would have been able to survive the early life my grandfather had gone through. Interestingly enough, my other grandpa fought on the Japanese side during WWII though I don't think he saw any combat. He was station in one of the island now part of Indonesia (or Malaysia?) and he built bunkers and such. He picked up some Indonesian/Malay words, like "makan" which is "to eat," and the nasty habit of smoking.

Oh, because the men were away, my mom ended up having two birth days (not counting the lunar birth day)--one is her real birth day and the other is the "official" birth day. When my mom was born, Grandma had to wait until Grandpa came back from the war to register my mom, which was many months after her birth. My mom told me stories about US soliders giving milk to the elementary school kids, but my mom and her siblings hated the taste of milk so they gave it all to the dog. XD
