I've decided that since The Evening Raid has finished writing for our new EP, I'm going to write as many bullshit, simple, mindless pop songs as I can and probably never play them for anybody except myself.
I love the music for TER but it can be really taxing; we put a lot of pressure on ourselves by trying to write what we consider to be interesting music. The positive to this is that I feel we're successful, and it's satisfying; but the downside is that sometimes, racking my brain frustrates the hell out of me.
This will be my balance - my antidote. Lately I've been listening to a lot of things like The Starting Line and Something Corporate for reasons beyond my own rational. Maybe it's the hint of approaching spring, maybe I'm trying to give my mind a break, but sometimes, I just like to be a pussy; it's cool.
So, I'm going to write a few songs where I worry about nothing. They will be simple and generic, slightly formulaic, and do things like rhyme "right" and "light" or include words such as "baby" and "oh yeah" as actual lyrics. It's going to suck and I'm going to love it.
Yeah, that's what I'm gonna do.
