Taking things for granted

Feb 12, 2009 20:37

Amongst the many (nonsense) tests and memes running rampant in Facebook and Livejournal, i would like to propose that you guys do this one. You don't have to tag anyone, don't have to write anything. None of that "publish-all-your-clean / dirty / soiled-linen-out-for-the-entire-community-to-read" nonsense because, seriously, NOBODY CARES.

Before this week is over, think about the previous few days. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday...
Think about today. And perhaps tomorrow.
Recall what you did the previous few days' evenings.
Who were you with?
Your parents? Girl/Boy friend? Spouse? Siblings? Good pals? Ex-classmates?
How much did you enjoy yourself?

Now, imagine if that didn't happen, what would you have been doing?

Carry out this little exercise on your own.
Spend a few moments thinking about it.
And then keep it in your heart.

There's no other agenda.
But i think it's good that once in a while, we remember the people around us.
Remember how your friends take the effort to always make themselves so accessible to you.
Remember how your spouse or loved ones put in so much effort to try out the hobbies that you like.
Remember how they also compromise their pace when you also try to involve yourself in their hobbies.
Remember how your mom always seems to know when is the right time to make you that bowl of hot soup that is so comforting.
Remember how your dad , who doesn't really speak much, actually compliment you for being the good son that you are / aren't.

Most importantly, remember how you should never take these people in your life for granted.

And i thank someone for reminding me about this last night. =)

Seriously.
I didn't tag anyone, so don't tell me what you thought of.
OK?
