Hello! I have found you via friend of friends list, and would just like to say WELCOME TO THE MADNESS. I'm so glad more LJ people are getting into 1d, now there might actually be GOOD fic. Nothing against tumblr, it's my main hangout these days, but good lord those kids do not know how to write and also sometimes they terrify me? Like, I was in bandom okay, I know what it's like to be in all-consuming love with a band but jesus christ people. o.o Sorry to like, creep on your journal like this but I always get super excited when I see another person on LJ get sucked in, and this is the first fandom since bandom that's made me want to reach out and talk to people instead of stay hidden away in lurkerdom, so I hope you don't mind! I haven't seen a lot of the things you linked to either, so wooooo I know how I'm spending my night!

Ahh thank you! It was literally two weeks ago that someone reblogged a Harry/Louis gifset and I thought to myself "this seems like it could be of interest to me" and it was basically the fannish equivalent of deciding to start shooting up heroin because MORE. MORE. MORE. Oh my fucking god man, this band. Yeah bandom was totally my last big fandom (for like...four years, I still go see associated bands) and I've been adrift since then, but 1D seems to be the one that's brought me back to LJ because the feelings just can't be contained. Up until two weeks-ish ago, I actually had One Direction tumblr saviored, so I never saw posts about them, and then someone on my flist started posting about them, and how precious Louis and Harry were and I was like NO I WILL NOT BE DRAWN IN I REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED TO BANDOM I REFUSE and then the very next day my tumblr was all One Direction, all the time. I think the fannish equivalent of heroin is the perfect way to describe them tbh. It's -- well not nice, but comforting I guess, to know that there's someone else who was fannishly adrift after bandom. I still look back at that time in my fannish life as the best thing ever, and I miss it like crazy. I compare every fandom I'm in to bandom and they just come up wanting. The fic's not as good, the fans are terrible -- there's always something. I've been in media fandom for the most part since then and WOW has it been different to come back into an active RPS fandom. So much new canon all the time! I had forgotten what it was like to be afraid to go to sleep because WHAT IF I MISS ( ... )

I had a friend who got into 1D a few months ago, and we had been friends in popslash and bandom so I was like okay, and I watched the One Thing video and I was like "eh no, boring, they're not that cute" so it's confusing to me that I watched it again last week and it was all I ever wanted to have in front of my eyes for eternity??? What? How? I've read on and off in media fandoms recently but god yes, bandom was really the thing, wasn't it? Christ, I loved Panic! At The Disco so much. I mean I love my TV shows and everything but nothing compares to RPF. It's like last week I woke up and there were new .gifs of Harry Styles in his underwear. YOUR MOVE, NEXT WEEK. LET'S DO THIS.

Oh, awesome! I don't post on LJ much myself, but I do love commenting on other people's posts, so I'll totally friend you back. I swear, I've gotten so many new followers on tumblr this week, just from starting to post One Direction. I didn't change anything else about my blog! The boys are magic.

Hahahahaha oh my god seriously I was a huge Brendon/Ryan shipper for years, scroll back like not even a page on this LJ and it's all there, I wrote a good amount of fic. I am always such a sucker for the big obvious pairing. /o\ If you want a mindfuck, consider that in 2006/7 when most people got into the fandom and started writing fic, Brendon and Ryan were 19 and 20, same-ish as the 1D boys now. Auuuuugh.

THAT VIDEO. Oh my god, and all the drama with the guy who filmed it saying he saw them kiss? What's it even like to be Harry and Louis? This fandom is fucking bonkers, I mean I've been into RPF pairings where I could definitely see how they could be banging IRL, but this is the first fandom where I'm sort of grasping at straws trying to explain Harry and Louis withOUT reaching the conclusion that they're actually a couple? What? I don't know? I can't? What will tomorrow bring???

Big obvious pairings are big and obvious for a reason! There is nothing wrong with liking big obvious pairings! Auuuuuugh omg they're all so ooooold now now I feel old! I'm the same age as Louis I can't be old!

I've thought the same thing! Like, I shipped Brendon and Ryan hardcore, and I could point to certain things as "They're sleeping together!" but I NEVER tinhatted for them like I do for Harry and Louis. It's really difficult to find ways to explain their behavior that don't boil down to the conclusion that they're fucking! Even when management (one would presume, anyway) tries to remind us that Harry is a ladies' man and Louis has a girlfriend, it makes more sense to look at it as them doing damage control! My friend Jenny (likecharity) started making a timeline of events in fandom, starting with this month, and it was INSANE seeing how many women Harry was linked to right after -- I think it was the video of him kissing Louis' cheek at a concert came out. Something like eight women in as many days ( ... )
