So, yes. The first 9 days are over, and what a period it was. Being the producer, I don't see it fit to comment on everything that happened, but let's put it this way: it certainly wasn't an easy show and it certainly wasn't boring.
I did, in fact, learn quite a bit and found the experience worthwhile, but do I want to make a career out of this? Ehhhh....probably not. Or at least I'd need to produce in an environment where I'd have more of the traditional sense of control. The student environment kind of delegates that power to other authorities, calling one to question whether they're actually producing or just a glorified gopher.
As it stands, we completed a good amount of the movie. There is one scene that we wholly didn't cover, while a few other scenes have poor coverage and will have to be supplemented. It'll be interesting to see how much crap the faculty gives us for that.
I'm about to enter a month of pick ups, where a different show gets four days each week. I'm back to 2ACing this week on the thesis of Bananas Inc, which delights me to no end. I'd prefer to 1AC, but just the thought of being on camera team again sets my heart alight in a daze of lessened responsibility awareness.
The second week will be spent Key Gripping Shampoo-My-Crotch's film. He showed me a rough cut the other day and it was like 92.7% dolly shots. My back is already aching. But I love doing dolly shots, so I'll deal.
I'm off the third show to prep for Sea Creature, and I'm not too sad, considering the first go round was hell by all accounts due to bugs, heat, bad communication, etc.
I produce the fourth week and miraculously, I'm off the last show, so I'll have time to catch up on my paperwork and maybe even leave town early for my break. Not too shabby indeed...
In other news, V for Vendetta kicks all sorts of ass and the youngest of the Leong Clan turned 21, so you know there will be some celebrating when I am in D.C.
It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way.
