Lesbian Seagull, your days are numbered.

So, the word is out that we are going with a film that is pretty much completely different than the film that was pitched and chosen. I've had to explain over and over why this has happened, and to be honest I'm a bit tired of doing so, but to summarize:

-The trained dog we wanted cost 9000 smackeroos
-The school was unwilling to give us extra funds to procure this dog and instead suggested several options, none of which seemed attractive to either the director nor myself.
-the location we had locked down (where a good majority of the film would take place) became increasingly restrictive in regards to what we were allowed to do

Could we have tried with an untrained or inexperienced dog for free or close to it? Yeah. Would we be pulling our hair out and end up with a half assed film? Good chance.

While there are a lot of things I really liked and still like about the Greyhound idea, I just don't think it was a viable project at a student level. Who knows about the future?

So, where does that lead us?

We tried exploring the route of taking the story and putting in humans. Completely didn't work. Unfunny. Weird. Very dark. That's not a bad thing normally, BUT...

We've basically been given the mandate that we need to produce a comedy, so a comedy we shall produce. We have turned to one of my favorite ideas that the director pitched during our workshop sessions. It's not a script without its own set of problems. In fact, we've had a bear of a time nailing the script down (still in progress), but I think the end results will be worth it. Plus, it has a (possibly) gay sea creature. This has potential to be flat out balls to the wall hilarious. We shall see.

Fiber Optics just won Best Comedy at the Student Emmys. The producer gets the award for that (congrats to Shannon and the GoatFarmer). If they can do it, maybe we can too.

Oh, and by the way, if you hadn't noticed (and judging by the amount of people that actually read this, you haven't) I did a bit of redesign on this good 'ol LJ account, including finally adding some links to friends/things of interest at the bottom. Enjoy. Or don't.

It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way.
