This is a list of "cool" bookshelvesGreat! Except, er, I like books. Which means they are pretty much all (apart from the stairs, which are awesome) things I would never even consider having because they would either damage the books or just no hold enough. It pretty much sums up what I don't like about modern design: it's mostly impractical. I ( Read more... )

i like 13, and 15, although i wouldn't fill it with rainbow coloured books.

But yeah, i like mine to hold as many as possible too. I like the style of ikea's maarkor (sp?) but don't like that you can't buy extra shelves for them, so you get a lot of wasted space.

No, see, the point of 15 is to organise your books by colour! Because that's SO COOL!!1! People who do that just make me wonder whether they bought the books just for decoration, and if that's the case I'd quite like to find them and rescue the poor books from their illiterate owners..

ahh, i guess i'm a luddite then - i organise mine by series and author, not by colour :)

I would organise mine by broad subject then author (alphabetical) then probably series by publication date, but I would have to organise the best part of a thousand books and I really, really can't be arsed. ;) At the moment I at least try to keep books by a single author together, but I'm fighting a losing battle.

oohyah, yeah, i'd imagine keeping that many would be difficult. I think i've only got a few hundred.

You need a big house with a dedicated library room or three :)

Okay, here is the problem: we have a big house with a room more or less dedicated to books. We have bookcases in most rooms (not the bathroom, for that would damage books!) and pretty much have nowhere left to put bookcases. Bookcases are, in the places they can be, double stacked full of books.

jings, that's a lot of books! I'm impressed and in awe :)

When i get to work on tuesday, i'll upload a pic of the new library in the school I'm working on just now, it's rather impressive.

The books there are almost entirely Mum and Dad's, although there are no doubt some of mine creeping in.. We're a booky family, to say the least.

I like libraries! My old school library was pretty good, despite being tiny.

Nice! Big airy rooms full of books are great. I'm glad they're making such a large library for the school: means they expect to fill it with books and that can only be a good thing!

The library my Dad designed in Dumfries is big and airy. I love it, but we rarely go there because it's the other side of town..

I do that! But I have at least read them and my bookshelves take up an entire wall.
