Alone 4

This weekend I learned something.

Darkness is scary.
Darkness in 3.5km of decaying subterranean world-war 2 bunker tunnels is scarier.
Darkness in 3.5km of decaying subterranean world-war 2 bunker tunnels full of aliens that want to rip your guts out and nom on your tasty tasty flesh...that is scarier still.
Darkness in 3.5km of decaying subterranean world-war 2 bunker tunnels full of aliens that want to rip your guts out and nom on your tasty tasty flesh, and where you are convinced that your allies all want to kill you as well, where you're trying to sleep with one eye open just in case you get attacked, where you do get attacked constantly, where you *give up* trying to prepare an MRE because it has *instructions* on it and you're so exhausted and every time you try to read it in the crappy wind-up torchlight in the freezing cold, you get attacked again...that's absolutely fucking terrifying.

And what's more, I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT!

Alone 4 was made of so much badass and awesome that oh god, it feels like a WEEK ago I walked into those tunnels with a not insignificant sense of trepidation. There were aliens and bio-weapon experiments and cylons and psy-ops and corporate espionage teams and black ops 'cleanup' teams and desperate dashes through a half a kilometre of "death alley" under constant attack while carrying fuel drums and and and oh my god.

Props to Mandala for an event that goes to new lengths to define 'Hardcore'.

Now it is time for sleep.
