Finally, something pleasing to the ear!

I've always hated Sandra Ng. Not as much as I hate Ron Ng obviously. It's just not the same. Even though I hate Sandra, I still respect her as an actress and I respect her attitude towards her work. I hate Ron Ng, and I can't even bring myself to respect him for what he's done so far.

And even though Sandra lacks every sort of elegance as a lady, ( Read more... )

OMG I wish my Canto were good enough to listen to this b/c I LOVE Francis AND Sandra both, and the topic is great. However, since I don't really watch TVB shows at all, I can't add much to the discussion. Now, if we were talking about HK movies, I'd say some of the same complaints apply: the younger generation can't act. Some of them are getting better, but I remember around the mid-to-late 90s maybe when the likes of Anita Mui, Maggie Cheung (where did she disappear to?) and Leslie were still active and the new crop such as Nic Tse, Edison (what idiot gave that boy a chance?), Stephen Fung (could be worse) and the ABCs (Daniel Wu and friends) not to mentions TWINS TWINS TWINS came along I was groaning like CRAZY! OMG who WERE these talentless kids? Thankfully the really sucky ones somewhat got weeded out (or cast out, in the case of Edison) while others have improved over time.

The Hong Kong entertainment biz, much like Hollywood, frequently promotes looks over talent, who will give out on the director's couch versus those who work hard, etc. Hopefully, in time, the good will win over the bad. Thankfully we still have some actors like Francis (and Lau Ching Wan, etc) still out there to show us what it's really about!

Now I'm thinking I need some kind of Hong Kong related icon! HAHAH!

In a sense, I find it great that they're specifically targeting TVB and everything within it right now. I still think the industry for HK movies are moving in exactly the same direction, but it's definitely in less ways serious than it is in TVB. Francis even said it himself - it's because TVB works in such a close circuit way, away from everyone else that they've come to this stage. They have their OWN award cermony... heck, their ceremony is just the same as giving an award to everyone in their closed circuit clique! The movie industry works in a much more openly fashion, and certainly less doomed than TVB.

But you're right, it applies in the movie industry too. I think both Sandra and Francis made an effort to suggest that too.

OH, FORGET THOSE PEOPLE. (I like Twins, specifically Charlene so in many ways that I will support her, but at the same time, I have never once came out and said she was talented... I'm a weird fan) Nic is probably one of the 'better' ones, but JAYCEE CHAN... JACKIE CHAN'S SON. Come on, man. Even his own father is shaking his head! HONESTLY.

I remember when Edi first came out. I still remember the very moments of his debut. Mass media was crazy about him, and I just completely ignored him. LOL. Everyone was crazy about how hawt he looked, and how he was the son of this rich ass man. I remember I went to buy CDs with my family friend one day, and my family friend who is absolutely HK-ent stupid, pointed to Edi's 'Breakthrough' CD and said, "Look Jenny, isn't he hott? I love him so much". I looked, caught Edi on the cover, picked up the CD for one second to entertain her, put it back on the shelf and moved on. XDD;;

If everyone in the older generation call it quits, I might as well just commit suicide ditch the HK-ent FOR GOOD. I can't imagine myself not being able to fangirl over wrinkly, old guys. DDD:

I NEED HK ICONS TOO. BOOOO.

ahh! I like Charlene, too. I always said I thought she was the more talented of the two (acting wise) while so many of my GUY friends were like nooo, Gillian is better. *snorffles* I agree that Nic is one of the better ones, and I was thinking of him when I said I think some of the younger ones have shown a lot of improvement. OMG Jaycee Chan is still trying to act? Really? I thought I'd heard he was good in something, though maybe it was just an anomaly? Jackie Chan when he tries to be a "serious" actor is really bad, too, IMO. He should stick to comedy and action, seeing him 'cry' in that last Police Story film...arghh...Nic was better at crying in his earlier roles than Jackie is now at this advanced stage! AHHH!

But OMG Edison, I never NEVER understood how he got work. Did his rich Daddy pay people off? Maybe now he'll go back to Canada and fade into obscurity...

Who are you calling a wrinkly old guy? Certainly not Francis! HAHHH!!!

Sometimes I think Charlene lacks a bit of variety in her roles/characters, but in the case where Gillian is really in a similar situation and no better, Charlene >>>> Gillian.

Well, I don't know if Jaycee is still trying to act, but I remember I saw something on TV (an interview?) a longgggg time ago when the interviewer asked Jackie Chan about the performance of his own son, he wasn't very convinced with him. LOL. My parents and I were so amused.

Nooooo, the-son-who-got-one-minute-of-fame-from-rich-daddy-paying-fans is JUNO MAK (aka Gillian Chung's bf). Said rich daddy is ANDREW MAK, and the exact same person who fucked Andy Lau's previous company (Teamworks) over. I'll never get over it. LOL.

They'll eventually TURN wrinkly!! ahahahaha.
