jkals;ashdfaskld. Killing. Gore. Blood. A generous amount of it. And Kimura is once again superhuman-like. Oh joy.

I not-so-secretly pray he will appear A LOT more than what he got in 2046. I thought that was quite pathetic. It wouldn't have made a difference if they used Kimura or not.

I do not agree with you on this subject. I love "2046" as a whole movie and think that Kimura, even if he had only about 20 min in the film, did his parts quite well ( ... )

I see your point in the matter and I'm not at all doubting Kimura's skills as an actor nor was it about the screen time. Yes, it was a great opportunity for him to work with Wong Kar Wai and I know he himself enjoyed it a lot. But sometimes I can't help but feel as if Wong Kar Wai used him as a mere publicity stunt. With Wong's inconsistency with keeping to his scripts, he could of easily decided that he wanted Kimura in the movie and edited it to fit him into a script that wasn't meant to be. Although the movie did turn out quite smooth (and it should, having used more than 4 years to perfect it), it just seems as if Kimura was inserted forcefully in place of what Tony Leung could also have done. I would indeed feel less suspicious if Wong hadn't chosen Kimura for this role, but at the same time, it is an honour knowing Wong hand picked Kimura for the film (contradicting, I know).

By the way, I'm sorry if I've offended/still offending you in any way... 2046 is a film I don't feel as strongly for as compared to Wong Kar Wai's ( ... )

Hey, why did you think that you had offended me in any way? We were just speaking about the film... Yeah, we could have different opinions on some points, but what offend could be in it? ;) We both like Kimura as an actor, right? So no problems. Beg your pardon if my post seemed to you ..I don't know.. a bit too emotional? English is not my native language and I'm not fluent in it. So may be sometimes I choose wrong words or expressions. So, please, don't mind. :)

Just being at most cautious, after all. :) Haven't you met fans like that before? Somehow just stating an opinion, you get into a fight which you can't seem to understand how it started. Or maybe they're too passionate about something and can't seem to grasp the other end of it (and then it turns into a heated battle about... nothing)? Not to say you're like that of course, but in the end... it all just comes right back to 'be careful'.

So don't worry about. Well, I guess that goes for both of us. :D And you don't seem you're not a native speaker, I think your choice of words are fine (my native language is not English myself). But you do seem to like 2046 a lot. I guess I've been around people who don't seem to like the movie as much themselves and quickly came to an assumption which I should never have.

Oh, don't worry, I'm not that crazy type of fan. I suppose I'm a bit too old already to be SO passionate about actors and films. :)

Yeah, I really love "2046". In fact I was my first film where I saw Kimura. The only thing I knew about him that he made voice acting in Howl (and I liked it) and that he's very well known in Japan. I even didn't have a clear idea how he looks like.

So I just went out to watch the "2046" - film made by the Wong, the director I like very much... And found there a very interesting, bright and charismatic actor, new for me. His role was not big, but he impressed me very much...

He-he.. In fact, when I watched "2046" for the first time, I didn't realize Kimura has 2 roles there and was shocked when found out that Japanese there was also him! :)The two men were SO different in everything... Except the voice.

The irony is 2046 was the first type of media where I was finally somewhat aware of Kimura. I watched Long Vacation and Love Generation when I was really little. Always knew he was famous, but I never cared too much until I watched the movie and later got into other JE groups.

I liked Howl's Moving Castle. I didn't quite know he was doing the voice-over until after I watched it the first time. :D

It took me awhile to understand 2046. haha. I had to watch it at least 3 times, and then run through their little interview thing to understand it.

In my country there are no any Japanese series on TV and never were, so I never heard Kimura's name before "Howl's Moving Castle".

I watched Myazaki's film and among other things that I liked in it was the acting and voice of the actor who voiced Howl... In the review on "Howl" his name was mentioned - Takuya Kimura - and it was said that he's very famous drama actor and singer in Japan.

So when a month later I went ot watch "2046", I noticed the same name on the billboard and said to myself:"Good! A chance to see what this 'Howl' can do 'in flesh'!"

As I said, I really liked his acting in "2046" - there were like flames of fire inside his Tak, he was hypnotizing... and his voice was so beautiful... So I decided to watch something else with this actor... It was in 2005. It was how my interest to Kimura started. :)

And yeah, I also had to re-watch "2046" some number of times before I understood for myself all nuances, is a very complicated movie - but as everything Wong Kar-Wai does. Anyway I like this kind of poetic cinema.

And... BTW, at that time for me, who didn't know Kimura at all, the very fact that Wong Kar-Wai invited this actor into his film was the best recommendation - Wong is a worldwide famous and he has a reputation of a director who works only with good actors!
