Sexperiment ;)

Mom, if in case you are reading this and shocked by the title, no, your Son haven't become a sex maniac or a porn star. And friends if you are reading this, no, I'm still the same but writing about an experiment  which I heard from a church recently. Yes, “CHURCH”

In my past relationship with the catholic church and in my entire life, I have never heard about “Sex” from any of the churches. I sometimes wondered , “Does my religion talked about this before ?”, coz Jesus never got married and I dont know if he dated someone. May be that would be a topic for the next Dan Browns book...

So where would I learn about this from a Bible ? Friends said “ Why Bible ?” Read KamaSutra !!! So what is this all Sexperiment all about ? Its simple, seven days of Sex.. But here’s the catch “ Only Married Couples” Grrr... and for those unmarried, still looking, young and restless, “Eat Chocolate cakes” ...... Ahem !!!!!

I was surprised and rather curious on what the church has to say about marriage and sex, just like any one else. And it’s a topic which is never discussed much in public and I don't see any churches in India , would have the guts to talk about this in near future. So I went to the fellowship church in Dallas after watching the Pastor talking about sex and marriage in CBS / CNN. When it comes to Mass Worships, I would be that guy waiting in the parking lot for the Sunday Mass to get over. Once all are out, its then me and god. Its in that state of silence, my prayers are heard and at times, answered.

Now here’s the description of how this church looks like. Its a christian church and imagine a “Music Concert hall with huge High Def displays, great acoustics and around 500 cozy seats. The first time, I visited, I wondered ... “Are we in a music concert ???” No , this is fellowship church my friend 'M' said. It’s way different from the churches I had seen. I didn’t find any altars or idols for worship. It looked like a high tech music studio with great singers and musicians.  Just like the way I would see a “Bryan Adams” or a “Coldplay” concert.

The churches here are more about messages from the bible, and talks more openly about topics which effect you in a daily basis, like marriage, relationship and this time it was sex. Because these are rather important decisions one has to take in life and they better be right. It would have helped me if I had known this a decade ago. An age, where “coolness” factor overrides anything else. It was all about being cool.

Now coming back to the topic, “Married couples have sex everyday and continue to do so at the least “7 days”. And the reason is, its all about intimacy and a new hope for marriages which are in the verge of breaking and to strengthen your marriage. Which I thought was cool, coz lack of sex can mess up ones marriage. What happens inside the bedroom has a direct effect on what happens outside the bedroom and what happens outside the bedroom has a direct effect inside the bedroom, the pastor explained... Which made  a lot of sense.

All said and done, is it really possible ? Its rather a challenging task, and it fades as we grow older, and have anyone done anything about it. Coz once a man and a woman, get into a comfortable, secure relationship, do they really work the same way as they did during the attraction phase ?? And once you have kids, your sex life is messed up, may be in most cases... I’m not generalizing, but I'm just speaking with “common sense” as my tool .

Does religion talk about sex and marriage ? Now here’s what I want to know ? No matter which religion you are, does your religion talked about Sex and marriage ? And if yes, which book talks about it ? If you are a Hindu, which Book do you read !!! I know the “Thirukural” has a whole section about “Kama” / lust. Is there any other book which talks about this ? If you are a Muslim, what does Quron say about it ?

Its amazing how the religious institutions in the Western Countries are pushing hard to be more conservative and bringing more families to the church. The other church I visited this Sunday talked about Marriage and family values. Its high time to talk about this no matter where we are !!!

sex, fellowship church, marriage, churches
