The Coffee Cat is undergoing some renovations. Sitting at a very old and thin booth, the window to my left also shows some construction peoples using some sort of ... mixing device on the ground next to me. It shivers and shakes and honestly so do I.
This is not altogether an unpleasant sensation.
Saw the in-laws last night, who are in fact an odd bunch of people brightened up by a baby. Sort of like putting a nice flower display on a really old coffeetable that doesn't fit with the rest of the room. In an amusing twist, we went to 1973 to eat at Don Pepe's in Lompoc and sat through a piano sampler and 'traditional Mexican restaurant music' in a shuffle as we ate. Hey look!
The Hat Dance and a faux instrumental version of
The Most Beautiful Girl in the World! It was both surreal and fitting.
laevus's dad is getting better and I impressed him by being an internet journalist. OH PREVIOUS GENERATION, you have no idea, do you?
The baby was cute as babies go. Not a baby person really, but having something shiny on my face helped us bond.
Comic Con is coming like a... thing that comes really fast and it's interesting that I'm finding myself planning for it. Training if you will. Running upstairs with my laptop, jumping up an down at the top, getting strong now.
I LIVE THE ROCKY SUONDTRACK and as soundtracks go, it's not a bad one.
The Dark Knight also commeth and the guys at the shop are torn between a midnight showing and actual sleep. Since it seems the movie might just knock things out of the park (TWO MARVEL MOVIES BEAT THAT DC SUCK IT- sorry! Reflex), I might bite the triple-caf mocha and go see it in the historical Arlington theater.
My birthday came and went with no fanfare, no excitement. Just a dinner with the Mister and a long soul-sucking morning with my mother. I shouldn't ask for much, seeing as how I have been gifted with a lot of things and moments and stuff, but ... sometimes I know I'm not social enough for my own good.
Someone recently asked me what my long term plans were and I almost threw up right then and there. Time is the fire in which we burn.
There's a foreign guy sharing my booth at the Cat now. He has a Dell. We pity, but approve.
