Part VII This Particular Woman Page 2

Aug 25, 2011 02:13

8-14 Talbot Square, Hyde Park
London, England

She checks the address, its this red and white building that doesn’t look like a law firm when she enters the receptionist is behind a desk with a plague in front of her that reads Mrs. Franklin. The office is a living room. "Ms. Webber I recognized you from the photographs, take this staircase 2nd floor."

Wonder which photographs the one with or without Astorre's suckling her breast or maybe the one that set the Internet ablaze ... his head between her legs. Eventually she's going to have to tell the kids they exist maybe after they're married will be best.

There's Mr. Maric in tweeds again with an uncharacteristic silly grin, "Ms. Webber we have an office here to discuss your affairs."

Maybe its my imagination but he's looking at me rather strangely...yep, he's seen the pictures.

With your impending marriage reviewing your financials," ... he flips to another folder, "is quite wise. Lets get to it shall we?"

Nearly half an hour later its' taken care of a review of deeds, trusts, and codicils to put her children on equal footing.

To Jacob Martin Morgan: the house on Clover Lane in Port Charles, the House on Corsica “The Morgan Place” and left end land, Elizabeth Webber Studio Front St., all art work of his father in the Imogene private collection, Clover Lane property Port Charles, New York, five million dollars in trust from Jason Morgan, patent on color Mystic Blu’ that is separate from yacht. Properties: Specified interest in Galleria de Roma

To Camille Atalanta Morgan: Specified interest in Galleria de Roma, Specified interest in Resident 19, The Pensione in Tuscany, its land properties with the exception of the barn and specified land, five million dollars in trust. A codocil, which deeds the barn and its land to Georgiana Jones with an additional one million dollars.

To Cameron Andrew Morgan: The “Little House” Bastia, Corsica, its land, and controlling interest in Galleria de Roma, which includes all artwork. All interest in Andrew Galleries. Controlling interests in The Brush and Chisel a specified sum will be determined and divided between Jacob and Camille. Ownership and profits from the yacht Mystic Blu that is separate from the patent. The Sanctuary Elizabeth Webber Studio Front Street, New York.

Divided Interest:

We received a notarized copy of additions provided to Jacob, Camille and Cameron upon his death. The alimony settlement from Jason Morgan is substantial with interest from the last ten months it comes to…..” He begins to read aloud, shuffling and flipping papers she cuts him short.

“I’m not interested in hearing it just that it is divided equally among these three kids added to their trust and included if there is a reading of his will.

“Yes, these will be disbursed as you’ve specified. The Quartermaine bequests did not stipulate an age of distribution at this time it would be upon eighteen ”

“Quartermaine… what bequests are you talking about?” She looks to him inquisitively.

The additions from Drs. Alan and Monica Quartermaine, Edward, Quartermaine. There are stipulations regarding ELQ.

“What!”

“Yes for Jacob, Camille and Cameron.”

“Cameron?”

Mr. Maric shuffles more papers, “yes a substantial bequest from Tracey Quartermaine: ELQ stock …. a car…. a Bentley and a sable coat.”

She jumps up, “a car…a coat… ?”

“I sent an addendum by special messenger about six months ago when this came in.”

Also Emily Quartermaine Cassadine has bequeathed to Camille, Jacob and her godson Cameron.

“Skye Quartermaine Alcazar, an Arabian mare to each of the children and another in five years.”

“Horses?”

“Yes.. well you do have a farm.”

“Thank you you’ve been very efficient. ”

At this point Elizabeth is punch drunk.

“Are you ready?” A man with very black hair stands before them.

“Yes we’re done here Mr. Poe,

“Elizabeth Webber,” she shakes his hand.

“Not for long,” he looks very British, very swank for an older man. He has a stiff upper lip and a full head of black hair combed to the side with a part so wide his scalp gleams.

She looks at the time, “how long will it take to sign the papers.”

Mr. Poe with a confused glance, opens up a drawer and brings out another packet of papers he begins to summarize.

“Its straight forward we're merely going over what has been done to assure your financial viability.

“Mr. Poe I’m already viable what is this about?”

“The Marcello assets.”

She speaks without hesitation, “I will sign away any claim, rights or whatever... just give me a pen.”

“What about your children?” Asks Mr. Maric judiciously.

“My children wouldn’t be involved in this.”

“Future children you and Mr. Marcello may have.”

Elizabeth hasn't thought about more kids.

Mr. Poe begins,"this is an overview Ms. Webber all particulars are in these affidavits, upon his death, controlling interest in Pierli vineyards, Marcello wines and its thirteen subsidiaries, business holdings including real estate, stocks, bonds, unless otherwise deeded to your children. His brokerage house, film production company all its rights and royalties which includes benefits to Dillon Quartermaine, Georgy Jones, Davide Cavelli. His ownerships, stocks and bonds in his technology enterprises, with a stipulation the Oracle stock be deeded directly to Cameron the value of the stock to date is included and you will be given an annual summary of this he slides another quarterly report that list the face value of his stock portfolio. "Good God.." she says, "this...is unbelievable."

Mr. Poe slides her a list on top of several folders then goes on and on .."there will be monthly disbursements for caretaking if an unfortunate event occurs and/or Mr. Marcello dies...

All she can say is “I wasn’t aware he produces films.”

“Its rather recent Mr. Marcello started up about a week ago."

Right after speaking with Georgy she assumes. Just like that! She points to another hefty stack, “What's this?”

“His stock portfolio…, this one includes shares in Altjir Bank, Grand Caymen Islands. He’s always had extensive provisions in several trusts in place for Cameron. He has included provisions for Camille and Jacob with codicils for any future children born or adopted by you and Mr. Marcello. Cameron, Camille and Jacob trusts will be dispersed when they each turn of age twenty-six. Also, as you’ve just included, all of your assets during your marriage aside from Mr. Marcello will be divided among future children of you and Mr. Marcello from the time of your marriage."

Elizabeth interrupts again, “Wait Mr. Poe I’m not understanding this. I…know he is comfortable but…is all this really necessary his mother isn't mentioned ...surely …

"Mrs. Marcello's has revenue which will be divided between her only son nd her grandchildren surely you realize..to put it bluntly…she doesn’t need his. Besides he trusts you will be there for his mother. Mrs. Webber have you checked Forbes who's who?"

"No I don't look at those whose the richest millionaires list."

"Well if you decide to that would be the wrong category and he is in the single digit."

She barely hears him since she’s can't think straight she cuts him off, “I’ll read it over Mr. Maric will get back to you.” She has no intentions of reading it she has lawyers for that she’ll sign whatever he wants. Gregor has more money than he obviously knows what to do with he doesn’t need hers.

“I prefer not to sign off on this until after I speak with Astorre,” she says.

“Ms. Webber there is no signature required this is just an overview... an informative meeting. Do you have any requests.”

“Yes that my children take the Marcello surname legally.” Confusing as it may be for them she wants them stripped of a man's name that doesn't want them if they were Quartermaines that would be different.

“Very well, when Mr. Marcello advises me we'll begin the procedure for signature and these,” he holds up two bulky folders, “will be processed immediately if you have any inclusions your solicitor will inform us we will send you and Mr. Maric a summary of what we’ve discussed here. Ms. Webber you and your children are provided for.”

I thought they always were.

She speaks to both attorneys, “Another thing, no details of this will coming out until my death and my children aren’t to know anything about their inheritance from either estate. ”

She shuffles through the papers for a last look, “you didn't mention if we divorce how this will be reversed.”

“There isn’t any provision for that, this will is ironclad whether you divorce or remain married to Mr. Marcello.”

“What?”

“He made that profoundly clear and we have affidavits in writing.”

The time is two hours since she first arrived from the park, “I have to go my children are waiting for me.”

"If that will be all any questions please feel free to contact us.”

She shakes his hand, “Yes, thanks ... and you too Mr. Maric for coming over here.”

Elizabeth if you’d like, I’ll meet you in Tuscany to iron a few things out.”

“I’ll get back to you, if there is anything else I should know call me right away, good day gentlemen.”

As soon as she clears the door she takes off the jacket of her white summer suit when she steps past the wrought iron gate she cells Signora, “it took a little longer than I thought; I’m on my way.”

Even though the meeting was exhausting she walks briskly across the park Astorre what have you done she now has an added burden of preparing her children the responsibility for this kind of wealth.

Very well. She’ll speak to him but with his laisse faire attitude about money his answers will be readied he’s expecting her. In the meantime, she stops to read the program there must be one thing they can do together before they go home to get her mind off this grueling meeting... ah...there's a puppet show in a half hour.

301 Westbourne Grove, London Bridge

When they get to the only home he owns, the kids are beat it doesn’t take long for them to get down to a nap, even Cameron looks sleepy. Signora carries Camille to the room they share while she put down Jake in the room he shares with Cameron. She takes off his shoes and opens the window. When she gets to the Astorre's master bedroom they can't share he's here, she hears him singing in the shower.

She turns around and there’s the two life sized silver dog statues, whoever talked him into those atrocities should be burned at the stake despite her current dilemma she can’t help but laugh they’re so hideous they’re hilarious. This is definitely a bachelor's pad.

She needs to calm down maybe a walk outside a little alone time she passes by a wine cellar there's an ice bucket with two bottles of vino in it and one half full. She pours herself a glass to the top she makes it through a small area with a large silver statue that leads to the back there's no American style back porch just steps all stoned in like a Robin Hood movie. So she sits on the steps, then jumps up, she’s just ruined the white skirt since there’s minimal damage in the kitchen she finds a cushion. There's not much landscape just stoney and wrought iron. The front is nice though the house sets back off the street because the yard is big and its got wrought iron and wood gates. ... Its cooling off it feels good out here. When she turns to the right there's toys out here, a Vanquish another symbol of a life she’s just not sure she fits in

the symbols of his life, fast cars and fast women, Am I kidding myself?

By the time she barges into his dressing room he’s on his phone, so naked she almost forgets she’s suppose to be putting him in his place. She paces a few steps taps her Angelini sling backed foot on marble, like everything about him, its exquisite.

“Why does a beautiful woman make such an ugly face.. Umm?”

“We need to talk.”

“You’ve met with Mr. Poe I presume,” he speaks in rapid Italian

“Correct. Astorre it’s too much.... take it back.”

“What am I suppose to say?”

“How in the hell did you accumulate all this?”

“I’m a financier that’s what I do. I’m not giving it away to charity every shilling me and my family has spent decades working for? Generations? I’m not doing that. I’m an only child Elizabeth so is my father.”

Surely you have cousins and other relatives…

“They have their own money they don’t need mine and they have no fondness for the vineyards had it not been for my mother it would have went asunder a long time ago." He starts moving towards her, "What would you say to me if you weren’t so upset,” he moves closer she’s melting under his spell.

“Back off, don’t change the subject…this is serious.”

“Do you feel trapped inside my world of glamour? ” He takes a sip of wine from her glass.

”Most times.”

“Are you enjoying it?”

“Sometimes.”

“So I’m wearing you down even though you’re fighting every step of the way. What would you say to me now if my will hadn't annoyed you so much. What would be doing?”

“You’d be tired of hearing it.”

“Say it... tell me you want me Elizabeth.”

Elizabeth isn't getting side tracked by Astorre's lure to smooth this over with charm, “You just handed over everything you have to me.”

“Only if I die,” he laughs.

“That’s not funny,” she frowns.

He arches up a brow it goes up much higher than hers.

“I’d say, I thought my summons was to sign a prenuptial agreement but I got hoodwinked by clauses, codicils, affidavits, trusts what I’d get if someone I love dies, it wasn’t a pleasant experience. I had a m...m-miserable day with a ..ah...attorneys.” She’s gasping, with each word, he's unbuttoned or unhooked something, her white skirt is the first to hit the floor.

“And I saw an amazing puppet show,” her gray and black polka dot voile blouse drifts into thin air. “We ….” the bra floats away. “We…” panties drop to her ankles then he puts in a finger and he has symmetrical fingers. “Ahh…,” she back up against a wall and the back of her hands are pressing against it when he takes out his finger she collapses in his arms.

--------------------------------

Two hours later, he sneaks outs to check on the kids, she just opens an eye to him, “Jacob and Mimi still sleeping. Cameron is watching TV but he seems pretty tired. I think we’re safe for at least an hour.”

“You used sex to manipulate me," Elizabeth says dreamily.

"I would never think to do such a terrible thing." He does the eyebrow lift again.

"Soon we won’t have to do this anymore, lets just lie here for a minute I’m tired too. We have to decide where we’re going to live. Just get me off that farm, its nice but I can’t handle it all year round. Astorre I have to get the kids settled in school.”

“Rome.,” hearing her laugh is music to his ears after today they need it.

“Just like that you don’t want to live at the winery.”

“Not right now, I would say lets find a place of our own but my parents have these unoccupied houses it seems foolish to buy another but if that’s what you want… and if Rome isn’t for you we can…”

She covers his mouth with her fingers. “Why Rome?”

"It’s the first place I saw you, its easy to get everywhere and well... its one of my favorite places…the Eternal City for our eternal love." She's blushing at his endearment she's the only woman he's ever said I love you to. When he tells her that she blushes some more.

"Oh you're good Marcello, I didn't have a chance."

"Neither did I." he replies.

“It’s going to be a yeoman’s task to keep these kids unspoiled in your lifestyle."

He looks as if he wants to smoke a cigarette, “at least one of them is sure to be greedy its the law of averages it’s only a matter of which one it will be. Hopefully the others can help keep them in line."
.
“They brought up other children… you know… between us the kids we haven’t met yet. Well suppose all of them are greedy.” she says. He didn't respond to more children one way or the other.

“Our influence must prevail in at least two I have faith in Cameron it won't be him."

"Camille will follow whatever he says so it won't be her either so it leaves Jakey and I just can't ever see him turning on his brother and sister. He's only five though," she laughs. “That's why you appointed Cameron executor you've always had a special bond."

"I saw him first at the desk then my eyes rested on you. Its true I've always had a soft spot."

"But Paola, has just cause to think I'm chasing your wallet we really came to a good place, now with this, she'll think I'm a gold digger."

He grins, "that is because she’s cautious women have been after more than my sexual prowess. She likes you, my mother isn't your American warm and fuzzy type and she's not that Italian MaMa Mia stereotype either, she's a horrible cook she grew up coddled with servants.

But she worked the vineyards starting from a child, before we became automated she bottled the wines. Anything you name she's done for this winery no task is too small. Even now, we pick grapes together she is a beautiful person inside with a good heart. Paola signs off on everything regarding the wineries she knows what is in my will. Not because she butt in I asked for advice because she's a consummate business person."

“You're really rich until today I didn't understand the magnitude.” Elizabeth finally gets why his mother is ..well... cautious, now she will be too.

“My parents and their parents on both sides, I would apologize but I’m not sorry. I made a small fortune at just learning how to be a financier; then it became something I good at..... then excelled it seems I could do no wrong.”

“Like your father.”

“I suppose, until now, I never saw it that way ... but..yes we are both overachievers."

There was something in the way his voice caught, "you love him."

He tears up like a small child but his voice hardens, "Elizabeth I wasn't ready for him to die; I am still stunned its like it just happened yesterday. If he had been ill some preparation but he was just snatched away. That morning he's full of life laughing telling stories by late afternoon he was dead and this...money ... won't bring him back. That is why it has one purpose...to spend," he says bitterly.

He lets the bad feeling go to speak lovingly of his father, "if you could be with him for one day you'd see why he was so well loved ... he was this larger than life, mesmerizing man who made everyone around him feel special. He was a movie star."

30 Via Archimede, Parioli

Roma Italia

Instead of heading straight back to the farm Elizabeth decides to check out the International School of Rome and Astorre comes along they agreed to use these events to bond with her children. Before their interview he shows off their new home its her first look-see a townhouse smack dab in the center of Rome. She started packing right after she got home since they hadn't decided where they'd live she lost enthusiasm. Hopefully this is the last move.

"You'll love it here Via Archimede is a horeshoe shape street."

a Roman term for culdesac just like my house on Clover in Port Charles.

"and its interesting because this street divides in two branches but both have the same name, the other branch is embassy row. He goes on explaining like a real estate agent,

“there’s an elevator around the corner or you can take the stairs its three stories.... there's not much of a back lot but its two parks nearby Villa Borghese and Villa Glori. And its a roof garden. What I’ve always liked about growing up here is the evenings are peaceful and quiet. The maid services 2 hours 3 times per week or whatever you like; Elizabeth as for the decorating what ever you don’t want I’ll have it shipped to Piedmont most of this is my mother’s she collected over the years. So will this work for us?

"Suppose Scuzzy doesn't like it here?" Asks Mimi hugging Astorre around his right leg..

"Mimi open a can of tuna then he'll like it because he likes you," answers Cameron.

Its not frilly and cluttered with knick-knacks its homey but not bland its architectural digest Italian homey. “Paola has good taste but I’d like some of my art here; I’ll put our stamp on it but I’m not much home decorating.”

"Your gallery isn’t too far you can ride a bike there," She has no intentions of driving in this city its impossible. "Ah....... the bedrooms ...let see the bedrooms. And for you Mimi there is a piano here...” He sprints up to the next level with Jake.

Mimi and Cameron squabble about their bedrooms. Mimi wants the same one Cameron has just chosen with an adjoining bathroom. She gives up and heads to the piano and promptly begins playing the spaghetti song. The other two bedrooms share a bath and another one with a half bath has only shower. The townhouse is larger than it looks from the outside Elizabeth likes it.

“Its three floors the third leads to rooftop garden part of it is in front of an attic apartment a sitting room bedroom, laundry etc...that would be lovely for Signora it has full amenities for privacy hopefully you’ll stay of course there is a wage adjustment since you're taking me on," he smiles.

Astorre doesn't have to do much to convince her he's dressed for the part in a navy pinstripe suit over a navy T shirt, navy Cole Haan Pinch Slip ons with no socks Elizabeth can can barely contain herself from laughing. Poor Signora's got the look and is now a full fledge member of his cast of many, the pom pom girls.

She's being dazzled like Audrey, Kelly, Cy, and Kate before her, honorable mentions Leticia and Carly, right now she's zeroing in at the crop of curly tendrils dropping to the middle of his forehead and bobbing her head, "si...si." He has a strange affect on women ...she can't hold in any longer and blurts out laughing uncontrollably ..... and she's one of them. To cover she says, "I was just thinking of this joke."

"You must tell me that joke," he takes her hand leading her to their bedroom. She walks around him peeking in the bathroom.

"This is where we'll make love, there’s separate bathrooms for us a larger dressing room is around the corner for you."

"Ahhh ... you'll need it more than I," she teases.

He smiles at her and rubs her shoulders, “My father after all the years he’s been gone he still has things here.”

She makes way back to their bedroom sits on the bed after an exaggerated sigh,

“everything about you is so big, the houses, planes, we’ve been traveling up and down Italy nonstop when do we catch a breath and stay put for awhile slow down….this lifestyle of yours is too fast for me its overwhelming.”

He bends on one knee brings her hand to his face kisses the inside, “its only us getting started after that we'll wind down. Darling don’t be frustrated after the wedding we’ll live here and find our own way. We’ll have our lifestyle, not my parents, not mine or yours but ours we’ll figure it out as we go along there is no rush, we’ll take our time.”

“Its just all these places ….I have them in Corsica and Port Charles not lived in you've got houses all over you don’t live in it seems such a waste.”

“But we do live in them, not all the time.” The financier part of him speaks, “investment properties are not wasteful.”

“What will you do about work?”

“Take a year off from everything,” He hadn’t really decided that until now.

She shakes her head, “Don’t please…don’t do that because you’re marrying me.”
“Darling, I can work from anywhere..I’m in the decision-making in the winery business, there's a manager for day-to-day operations. I fly to Monferatto a couple of times a week and be home before dinner.” He starts charming her now, “that’s what you want right me home for dinner every night so I’ll be your sexual object.”

His charm isn't working, “This is a lot Astorre,” she says spreading her hands out.”

“I thought you’d like it here.”

“I do … I don’t mean the townhouse...its everything … the wealth, the extravagance; yes I've done well with my art but ..we don't live like this...your way.”

He grabs her and holds her close backing her against the wall, “Don’t get spooked the money doesn’t brand you. You’re you and I have no doubt you’ll put your spin on it. We are so close," he murmurs, "don't give up now before we begin,” he kisses the sides of her face. “How about a plan? ”

She waits a long time before answering as if she’s deciding if she’s staying or not, “Lets take it one day at a time,” she says instinctively.

“Oh-kay, lets do today, we go to the interview for school, come back here for lunch we take the children for a walk …to the park. After that?” Astorre backs her to a wall.

“We come back here then we’ll walk to the train and we’ll be home in an hour and a half.”

He’s doing that kissing thing along her neck thing he does, “there’s a meeting I don’t want to go to with people I don’t care to meet. I’m not sure exactly when we’ll be together again it may not be before your wedding …can you hold out three weeks? If not I can fly in to have sex with you.”

If you didn’t know him you’d find his machismo facade intolerable but he talks the talk but he’s far from macho when it comes right down to it he caves and the best part is she finally gets him. Under that teasing blustering bravado is an only child who grew up idolizing his father and respecting his mother. After meeting Paola she can't imagine her raising a macho son. “Oh so its my wedding now, can you hold out I can fly in to have sex with you?”

“I hope so.”

"Or we could wait no sex until after the ceremony.”

“Why do we want to do that?” He kisses her neck again “its an absurd suggestion and you’re hard to get along with.”

She smiles, “we should get going.”

Casale Monferrato hill top Village of Perosio, Province of Alessandria

Piedmont Region NW Italy

A few days later, Sonny Corinthos and his entourage await on the same terrace Elizabeth and Paola had lunch …Sonny's pilot flew his jet right into the Pierli Vineyard runway he sees the tail through the trees. Fifteen minutes later Marcello enters with four of his lieutenants he as always is impeccably tailored understated in a white shirt and navy pinstriped trousers, navy leather slip ons his outfit costs enough to feed a small village. Sonny notices he’s wearing a wedding band they sit round table style with refreshments but without his usual tray of assorted meat, breads and fruit. Nor does Marcello's omission of food escapes him...they always chat cuisine. A sheer indicator that's something is up.

'Its beautiful out here.. smells good…like grapes."

“Yes the aroma is strong this time of year right after harvest up against the Swiss alps which is a good sign for us. The number one thing that influences the quality of wine is the water content within the grapes and vines not the quality of the soil, or the barrels the stronger the scent after harvest means we probably maintained the water level which is for a good harvest.. we judge now for the next season it tells us should we irrigate more or less,” Marcello pours a round of his private stock. "...it makes for some intensely flavored fruit and incredible wines.” Marcello holds up his glass, "gentlemen salute."

Sonny knows Marcello very well over the past six years when he starts waxing poetically he's got a bug up his a.ss. He remembers the soliloquy before he stuck a nuzzle in Karpove's ear and promptly blew his brains out all over his designer duds. Sonny lets Marcello see him stare at the band around his finger, “I read about you and Elizabeth; I don’t know what to say but…congratulations and to thank you both for visiting Michael. Who is to say what woke him up all I know is he did the day you and Elizabeth were in his room for that I’m grateful. ”

“We are glad we were there.” He has nothing against Sonny he didn’t walk away from his wife and children leaving them stranded alone to fend for themselves his only faux pas was f.ucking Claudia Zacharra. "Thank you we’re all very excited.” He’s curious to know why Sonny wants to engage in this conversation with him.

“There is a situation in Rome, you … the Consortium should be aware of.” Sonny continues with some background about Brenda, “she’s a model and spokesperson now she’s been terrorized.”

“How bad is it?” Asks Marcello solemnly.

“Some men are after her … tried to slash her face …disfigure her. What they want exactly I’m not sure; Marcello I’ve known her since she was eighteen, we were in love she went to high school with Jason. He has to stay in Rome at the Excelsior to be with her I can’t stay here for much longer. I got Michael and business in Port Charles that requires me to be there. Zacharra is making moves, subtle, but he’s trying me. Jason has to stay to convince her to leave for Port Charles until this is settled. She’s lived in Rome a long time she keeps saying she’s got these commitments she can’t back out of raising money for charity and won’t be ran out of town she’s strong willed in a stupid way about this. I don’t know what the hell is wrong with her we got word its some guy they call ‘The Balkan.’ Will you help us?”

He's not getting into Sonny’s s.hit with the Balkan he’s heard of him and probably can find out more he’s just not interested in stirring this up getting into some war when everything has been calm with the consortium for nearly a decade. They aren't in the strong arming business.

His answer is quick, “No, its nothing personal my wedding is in three weeks as for Jason Morgan as long as it doesn’t involve Elizabeth and the children or consortium business,” Astorre crafts a wily smile for maximum impact,” I don’t give a damn what he does.” There was a time he liked Jason and admires his skill as a marksman to this day like when he shot at a wall and the bullet ricocheted precisely in Torneau’s gut he’d never seen a stunt like that. But after he pursued Elizabeth and lost her to him only for him to abandon her with his children he won’t lift a finger to get involved in this. He won’t hinder it but he certainly won’t lend a helping hand.

Abruptly Marcello speaks, “It’s a pity I can't be more helpful but with the wedding and bringing in the harvest its a busy time for us here.

"That invite to my island still stands." He expected Marcello to be loyal to Elizabeth and Kate but hopes their friendship continues.

"I'd like that its good seeing you again Sonny Corinthos, Max, Milo, Glenn have a safe journey home, ..arrivederci. ”

Jason Morgan again he’s put me in a hell of a spot, Elizabeth has to be told he’s in town its unfair for her not to know without being cautioned, of all places, Rome where she can easily bump into him that hotel is right across the Villa Borghese on Via Veneto.

He’s heard of Brenda Barrett and her ACEP charity he’s been to a fundraiser or two he just doesn't want to attach himself into this kind of unknown chaos when he’s trying to convince Elizabeth her life is safe with him. He said they would slow down so they could bond and that's damn well what he's doing. However the Consortium needs to be aware of the Balkan's business in Rome. Marcello goes to the wine cellar one of his favorite places, his think tank, and to get some work done while he's thinking. He’ll go to the farm, tell her in person, but it can wait a few days she has no plans to be in Rome she's so happy right now out of Morgan's misery and the Corinthos organization's never ending cycle of doom and gloom.

Tavarnelle Val di Pesa commune,

located about 25 km south of Florence.

provincia di Firenze.Toscana Region, Italia.

“we stay in a province right between Florence and Siena. I think Georgy will like it, a hill top surrounded by a valley of trees and vineyards every where the eye can see.” The Path of Love

She's finally gotten uber excited not only that she's genuinely happy. Elizabeth and Signora are packing; the house is a mess with markers, tape, and that bubble wrap Jake keeps popping she just caught a breath from zipping around the house checking for anything they could have missed. Georgy will be staying on as she’s done over the past five years when Astorre invited her to Rome she wouldn’t hear of it.

"You two are starting a new life you didn't need me around." '

"Oh Georgy don't be silly we have three kids and Signora besides its not our first time at the rodeo honey."

The door bell rings interrupting her train of thought, Elizabeth opens it Paola de Angelis Pierli Marcello stands there, and like her son, she’s immaculately groomed not a strand of hair out of place.
Elizabeth in capri jeans, a T shirt and flip flops looks every bit as a mother of three would on a day when her kids her home and they're packing to move. Elizabeth's eyes engorge double size.
“I wanted to meet you on your grounds,” says Paola.

“Well its…ah… good to see you.” Elizabeth tugs at her white T shirt with a prominent apple juice stain. “Please come in.”
Paola looks around, “its lovely.” She takes a wad of tape out of Elizabeth’s hair.

"Thanks, excuse me Paola can you give me a few minutes while I freshen up otherwise my memory of your first visit in our home is befuddled with me as a sweaty stained mess. I'll be right back make yourself at home. Can we get you anything tea, juice…wine?”

"Tea is nice."

Signora goes to prepare tea while Elizabeth lifts a box from the sofa and clears a path to make her way another wad of tape sticks on top of one of Paola's Jimmy Choo shoe. . Like a bandaid she yanks it off Elizabeth stares at it well it seems it didn't take the color off. When she returns Paola is sipping tea, "My dear I won’t stay long but I would like to speak with you about the will.”

Oh oh Elizabeth suddenly gets nervous she wonders if she’s about to pull some ploy, “Paola if you’re displeased just know I had no idea….I thought it was a prenuptial ag …”

“You misunderstand its about your feelings on it. I want to hear your concerns and assure you that you can design a life for your family where it won’t interfere."

“It’s a lot of money and well I don’t know how to prepare my kids for such extreme wealth…me either for that matter.” Elizabeth takes a sip of tea.

“When I was younger; I didn’t understand about words like wealth until I was almost out of my teen age. Yes I went to good schools and knew that we weren’t starving but I never thought about it. My father believed in the work ethic you had to earn your keep whatever label is put on your life rich didn’t impress him what you do defines you according to Savan Pierli.

We didn’t drive fancy cars with chauffeurs and all. We had servants if that is what they were called then but we had vineyards I just thought they worked for my father he treated them as more than hired help we went to their children birthday parties, family occasions wept with them at funerals we were invited in their homes and included in their lives just as they were in ours. There wasn’t a condescending bone in Savan Pierli's body.

As I got older I realized it more and more…. actually I found out we were terribly rich by reading it in a magazine one of those who is the biggest billionnaire list and saw my father's name there. How all really came about is when I married a glamorous man who had been a movie star since he was a teenager chased by papperrazzi. My every move scrutinized how I dressed, what I ate, where I walked no aspect of my life was neglected. Alessandro's motto live well, love often and laugh much its when that world collided with mine. He was a connoisseur of the most beautiful of women and I wanted to be one of them."

“That’s how I felt about his son not that long ago," says Elizabeth.

“But unlike you I had competition Françoise was not only an actress but a haute couture model with her beautiful sister Catherine they were a striking ensemble. When I met Alessandro I was a scrawny twenty something with thick glasses and pigtails who went to the university years too early because I was smart…ummm a geek I think you Americans say. My life was my family and my family is wine. Alessandro introduced a whole new world to me and I liked it. But I didn’t lose myself so I found a way to combine both, times were different then now and he was the kind that had that kind of pull, not in a malicious way, he was a superlative man that drew everybody in.”

“But Paola you’re beautiful I’ve seen pictures of you. I thought you were the movie star.”

“Grazi but what I’m saying is the glamorous life we lead is only a small part of who we are. Behind that is generations of hard work and disappointments. I feel we've earned it now in my sixties, I embrace the comfort in the fruits of our labor and I'll take all the glamor I can get," she smiles and squeezes Elizabeth hand.

"If you lose your way I am here to help you in whatever way I can. There is something else I brought with me.” She takes keys out of her purse and places them in Elizabeth's hand, “to the Rome flat. Elizabeth if you wish to change anything it is your home to do as you please. I won’t be offended."

"You might be if decorating is left to me why change perfection. As you can see home décor is not my strong suit."

“Ahh but your talent lies elsewhere. I also wanted to discuss the beautiful reception I planned for you but now I change my mind let it be your wedding surprise.”

Just then Mimi begins to play the piano it reminds Elizabeth to introduce her to the kids she says so they go to Mimi's piano place, “I’d like you to meet Gregor's mother, that’s Jacob on the floor, Jakey, Cameron and Camille, Mimi.”

Paola smiles showing perfectly pearly teeth, “well I’m pleased to meet you and I haven't seen Cameron since you were a little boy so you may not remember me.”

"I remember you from Corsica and you always smell so good," Cameron says.

Just like Audrey Elizabeth wasn't aware that Paola met Cameron.

“Are you our new grandmother?” asks Mimi. “We have a grandmother.”

"That’s true, I can be your Italian grandmother when your grandmother isn’t around I can help her out.”

“Do you want to hear my spaghetti song?”

“I’d be delighted.” Afterwards Mimi takes a bow.

Paola didn’t realize Mimi's proficiency playing the piano applauds, “bravo, bravo, that is a beautiful Italian love song by a friend of mine. Someday we will hear him sing it for you and you can play this for him he will enjoy that."

Like her husband Paola has a gift of making people feel good about themselves before she leaves she takes her mother-in-law to be on a short tour of the farm, “Le Pensione' is not a real farm we have a few puny grape vines some fruit trees and a few farm animals for the kids."

"It is a pity to let land go unused not to yield its bounty" is all she said whatever that means. Elizabeth figures out that Paola isn’t the huggy type she expresses affection with a squeeze of the hand. When she departs in her limousine, “it will be nice to have another Mrs. Marcello.”

"Paola am I the particular kind of woman you expected your son to marry?"

"Yes, you are the woman he loves."
