Today, James and I went out and bought a ceremonial Balinese umbrella.
Here's a picture of one:
Ours is 3-tiered in orange fabric, with pointy arches on the outside edges, orange tassles, wood and brass beads, bells, and large hammered brass charms that double as chimes.
It is huge and gorgeous, and it jingles all pretty..
I'd had my eye on it all August for Flipside and camping events, but I hesitated.
Then school started, and I got involved in the Gamelan naming ceremony... And so now.. Next Saturday I'm actually involved in hosting a traditional Balinese ceremony including providing the materials for the offering...
Its just destiny that the umbrella be mine.
