Geez, its been forever since I posted!
Where do I start... Ah! The 22" LCD! Its here, it looks good. :) Woot actually listed the same 37" LCD that I have as my main display up today, and I actually considered buying it for my secondary monitor briefly, but it really wouldn't fit on my desk. Less than $600, though, so that is a really good deal!
After much searching and a lot of random luck, I finally found out who owns the land that I want in Nevada. It is currently in the process of being sold, and I am in contact with the guy who is buying it. It is part of a large chunk of land, over 3,300 acres that is being sold for somewhere in the neighborhood of $10-15 million. The guy buying the land is also interested in astronomy as a hobby, and said after the deal goes through he would be happy to work out something with us so we can all have an observatory in place. Some other members of the club have also said they are interested, and we may be able to raise a few hundred thousand dollars to build a really nice observatory, like a -real- observatory. :D We'll see how that develops.
As far as the local observatory is concerned, I am in the process of making a proposal to give to the board next Tuesday, which lays out a plan to put in a new road (~400 feet), about 550 feet of fencing, and space out an area for 18 new pads which will be used exclusively for 'small observatories'. It will include laying fiber optics to the new area and branching network cables, as well as always-on-power and site-controlled-power. We'll see how that develops, too. ;)
I met a new girl that I like, this week. Her name is Claire. She is very cute... I haven't met her in person yet, but tomorrow we are going to go ice skating, and then Saturday we are thinking of going out to sushi and seeing a movie. Our personalities match really really well, so I'm excited to see if they work offline as well as online.
Jennifer's birthday was this week and a bunch of us went out to Cheesecake Factory, and my friend Gi said she was going on a cruise to Cabo in January and wanted to see if anyone else would join her. It really looks pretty awesome! I've got 3 weeks of PTO saved up, so I've got the time. Its really cheap too, less than $500 including the taxes and fees and gratuity, and food and estimated drink costs, too. I called Candace and asked if she was interested, and she says she is, so I'll have to work on talking her into it when I come to visit Nebraska next month. :)
Oh yeah, there is some talk that a project I'm currently working on might get me a trip to Tokyo sometime in the next few months. Woot! :D I've always wanted to go to Japan and see all of those crazy looking (and hot) Japanese girls. Right now its much too early to start planning for it, but I sure can hope! :)
Hmrm... I think thats about it. I'm going to go home and eat!!
