"You only exist if someone else is looking at you"

After following the "bullied bus monitor" incident I have drawn two conclusions. First, if you're going to be an asshat try really hard to not be recorded.

The second conclusion I have drawn is that Things Don't Die On The Internet. Imagine being the college admissions agent who Googles an application from one of these kids. Would you hire one of these kids if the top Google return was this? Yeah, not so likely.

Of more deep interest to me is that one of the kids involved decided to record and publish this to YouTube. His motivation is ascribed to wanting to be featured on Comedy Central's "Tosh.0" It's pretty obvious that none of the boys involved really wanted to physically harm the bus monitor and were highly unlikely to follow through on some of their threats. It would seem that the possibility of fame/notoriety was seductive enough to make these kids act out. The potential of notice was more attractive than the recognition of the harm done from their actions is a not unreasonable conclusion to draw.
