i found you in my room, asleep for years

I havent written in a while.
I think its time i tried it again.

rummaging through pantries and cabinets
i piece together scraps of steel and copper
and forge a heart.
a heart not of emotion and vigilance but of
plainness.
a heart whose song compliments yours.

and by luck i find you
--no,
FOUND you in my room
asleep for years
in a slumber so peaceful
even this heart of steel and copper
(who can hardly appreciate that which is in front of it)
cant help but take in a breath
(just one short breath)
--and then breathe it out a sigh.

a sigh so profound in its simplicity
that this wooden stomach i nailed together
(only a year ago)
tightens--
the way the bow of a ship does before it snaps
and brings it's sailors plummeting
into the depths of a pupil
of an eye
of a man as large as the earth itself.

a pupil so grand that even this heart
of steel and copper
takes a breath
(just one, short breath)
and releases it a sigh--
a new life brought into existence
by steel and copper

poetry, steel and copper
