Today is Tiu's Day on the old Gregorian calendar and the 25th Day of the Grael lunar cycle ~ Days of the Earth Dragon. Waning moon - From three-and-a-half to ten-and-a-half days after the full moon or from the Full Moon to the New Moon is a time for study, meditation and magick designed to banish harmful energies and habits, for ridding oneself of addictions, illness, or negativity.
Book of Shadows
A Book of Shadows is the individual Witch's record of the Rituals they perform and the Spells they work.
It may also include notes on divinations, meditations, dreams and even recipes. Books of Shadows are not to be confused with what has become known as "The Book of Shadows". This is actually the record of Gerald Gardner's Coven, and in reality is no more valid than the record of any other group.
Many Covens require the keeping of a Book of Shadows to demonstrate commitment on the part of each person, and because it is a useful record of which workings have been done. Indeed, many Witches find that, however arduous it may have been to complete in the early days, it soon becomes a invaluable reference. It is helpful if the record includes details of when and where workings took place, including day, time and phase of the Moon. It should also include information on how the individual felt and the results of workings. What it should not include are details of other members of the group which would enable them to be identified should it fall into the hands of a non-member. Many Covens also insist that Books of Shadows should be kept in the almost forgotten art of handwriting. This is partly because bitter experience has taught some of us that the computer is not a reliable way of storing information. Even if you don't have the bad luck to experience problems caused by viruses or a crash, as software is upgraded you can easily find that your hard work becomes inaccessible.

Superiority
"When we let go of believing, we are superior, we open
ourselves to the experience of living in the community
of Nature." -- Philip and Stephanie Carr-Gomm, "The Druid Animal Oracle"
In nature there is a pecking order of dominance to which weaker species bow, but the sense of superiority seems to be especially strong in human beings, regardless of any real power we possess. Our culture has told us that our species is superior to all others, that human convenience is at the top of the heap, and that every other inhabitant of earth must give way to us. This view is not to be held in traditional cultures such as the Celtic, however, instead,. all life forms are seen as fellow participants in life's dance.
Superiority separates us both from other species and life forms and from our fellow human beings. To live even one day with an awareness of our interconnected participation in life is a profoundly humbling experience that reconnects us with the community of nature. To experience, say, trees without the barrier of human superiority is to meet and interact with wise beings; to greet a child as a living soul, without adult superiority marring our encounter, is to be aware of primal understanding; to stand in a shower of rain and experience every drop as a kindred being is to washed clean of separation.
We do not have to walk around feeling mystically merged with everything, devoid of a sense of our own distant identity; we need only to remember that the beauty of life is too precious to be hidden by superiority attitudes.
"Practice experiencing the world for a short time without allowing your innate
sense of superiority into the driver's seat."
