Attack Theatre

I am really going to miss my job. For those who don't know, I was working at a modern dance/dance theatre company in Pittsburgh. The building that we operated out of was a converted laundromat. It was really just a large, concrete warehouse with graffitti covered floors. Inside, there was a fully sprung dance floor, kitchen, three bathrooms and six old diner booths salvaged from a dumpster where we held our important meetings.

At work, I mostly wrote grant parts, conducted background research for whatever projects we were beginning and ran around doing production stuff. Sometimes I plugged up leaks in the ceiling or washed the dishes. However, the best part was the lovely time that I spent with my smart, goofy and interesting coworkers. Launched ping-pong balls were acceptable ways of getting another person's attention and playing Cat's Cradle during staff meetings was common and encouraged. My first day of work, I was offered a beer and a board game. My last day of work, they made extensive efforts to get me intoxicated at Brillobox and invited me to smoke.

I don't know if I will ever find a better position.
