Our father who art in heaven.

He couldn’t remember a time when he hadn’t lived for some outside influence. There was always something outside of him telling him how to move and act, when to breathe and blink, when to live and when to die.

Hallow be thy name.

Death was what he craved as if it was some drug that only he found any enjoyment from; His death, her death, death of all, death many, death of few, and death of innocence. Only really feeling alive when it finally came to brush against fingertips. That shadowy sensation that lulled you deep into its embrace as it slowed your heart and stole your breath. It was a fleeting feeling that always brought false hope when it ghosted across the body it had chosen to empty. They always brought him back though.

Thy Kingdom come.

He’s been everything from drag queen, mob boss, schoolboy, praying Sister, doctor, and executioner. Everything one can be and a few not meant to be. Blessed child, demonic saint, Seer, and devil, holy gardener, and beastly keeper. Things that kept you fearing the dark and things one would yearn to see. Everything and nothing that can live in the tepid rain.

Thy Will be done.

All of it with just a touch of skin. A stealer of memories some have said telepath, psychic, or just plain supernatural. A gift and a curse that he cannot control only be controlled by it. As he had always been controlled even before then. It always leads back to Them. Did he ever do something due to his own thinking or was he controlled long before his conception? He didn’t know and it didn’t matter anymore. They were back again.

On earth as it is in Heaven.

In time though all those thoughts and memories…slips of time and passions would consume him completely. He didn’t remember much anymore about life before this. He didn’t remember if he was actually a he and not a she. It didn’t matter really he was pretty enough that they hadn’t taken the light away from him. But not enough to make them pin him down into one place. Lack of movement was death a death he didn’t want to feel. More bittersweet then that of being pulled away from physical death. Spiritual death wasn’t a drug he could handle just yet.

Give us this day our daily bread.

He despised this alien thoughts. Those memories of those he was assigned to. The ones that go against Their will. He loathed this, hated it with every fiber of his being, he couldn’t bear to live without this. It was his sustenance; his water, his very wine and nothing could take that.

And forgive us our trespasses.

What really is sin? They say the things he does are sins, abominations to the Church. A witch they say, a devils child borne from mortal flesh. Unfeeling and bereft of emotion. Cold, calculating, a gift from God, or the bane of them all. None of them know truly only They could.

As we forgive those who trespass against us.

No one else is to get involved. That was the only rule that did not need to be repeated. It was the very core of himself. Or rather the core of what They have made of him. Only the person They told him to find was of his concern. Ignore all others, harm no other.

And lead us not into temptation.

The ones that are chosen don’t actually die. They live and grow as if nothing has ever happened. Some even seem happier within their new lives. Lives that he must live from time to time. For he just does not steal the memories of those he is sent after. He takes their skin from time to time and acts like them. Shape shifter child.

But deliver us from evil.

“Speak my child.”

“Forgive me Father for I have sinned.”

“And what sins have you committed my child.”

“I’ve stolen your memories Father. The moment They gave me your name.”

And in a small corner of his mind, a part that was left solely to him he gave a sad smile that was filled with potential brightness as one of the other minds came to the forefront. The devil raged and clamored to get out. He only tightened his reigns on him before he was swept away into the memories.

Amen
