fire; water; wind; earth

Well, we've had it all now, in the past two years. Fires, floods, cyclones and now earthquakes.

Votes for the apocalypse keep rising.

fire, real life

I can't believe how fast the death toll jumps. One minute 17 the next 65. I'm nearly in tears when I watch the news, makes you grateful for us who haven't been affected by any of those.

Yeah, it's terrible. Looking at ninemsn it just keeps getting worse. 100 trapped? It's as if we're in war with mother nature.

I was just thinking that yesterday when I was driving home from work listening to the radio. Some woman who was in a 7 storey building when the earthquake hit was describing it in great detail and it seriously gave me goosebumps. Then - the whole earth, air, water, fire thing hit me and chills were creeping up my spine.

It's like, what did we do? Australia is pretty mild and conservative about most things - if there is a higher power - what did we do to piss 'em off, and why is it that no one else seems to have done so?

We can go all dramatic and say that this is a test or something. Or maybe because of the 4 elements thing one person is going to get up off their ass and change the world?

That is the thing I hate most about religion - the idea that everything is a test. Can't this life be worth something other than as a pre-requisite for the next?

Also - that doesn't work - they were in places so far apart - no way there was someone affected by all of them.

It's just nicer than thinking somebody out there hates you. It's sort of like, 'what doesn't kill you...' you know?
